You have not given any details about your disease. It would have been better if you had mentioned the place affected, diagnosis details viz. stage and grade of the disease and your general health condition etc. Hope you would have contacted your oncologist already and he had only advised you to undergo Chemotherapy.

No doubt Chemotherapy has very bad side effects as under-

chemotherapy drugs have more side effects than others. Some of the most common side effects are:

- nausea and vomiting
- loss of appetite
- hair loss
- anemia and fatigue
- infection
- easy bleeding or bruising
- sores in the mouth and throat
- neuropathy and other damage to the nervous system
- kidney damage

You have to put up with these side effects in order to fight the disease and have a cure. Do not hear anyone's advice and have the therapy as suggested your Oncologist, AS CANCER IS STILL AN ENIGMA and we have to fight it at any cost. Wish you best of Luck-

I personally had cancer when I was a child. I had leukemia. I actually had it three times, I relapsed twice. the las time I had a bone marrow transplant, which went amazingly well. I have been cancer free now for almost 10 years. All 3 times I had it I had chemo, with the transplant it also included high dose radiation, although its true it can make you very sick and probably will cause some pain. It really does work. That not to say that combining it with a better lifestyle doesn't help, but sometimes the doctors DO know what they are talking about. I did experience many hardships. At one point I was in ICU and they told my parents I probably wouldn't make it through the night. TI ended up having to have an emergency colostomy bag which is very embarrassing when you are in JR. high. Even after everything if I relapse, or get diagnosed with something else I, without a doubt will go through it again

if u have doubts with the efficacy of ur chemotherapy, discuss it further with ur oncologist, when he planned on starting u on chemo, im sure that it is ur best option, but u have to clarify everything, read every article or studies about the chemotherapy u will use, what to expect, and the possibility of being in remission for the longest time after chemo,
it is normal to feel that way, most that u will hear from people that had chemotherapy is how awful the side effects are, but i have good news for you, there are medications now that are given prior to chemo, that helps with the side effects, but then again, consider individual differences, for some reason other patients have different tolerance level to chemo, some can be severely pancytopenic, but other's blood counts go down but not as critical.
so before ur schedule comes, read drug information about the chemo or biotherapy that ur doc will use. if u cant find it online, ask ur md where u can find one or better yet ask the office, they are usually given literature by drug companies.. also, know the manufacturer's and contact them, see if u can get literature from them.

only you can make that decision. it is difficult as i know. i was neglected by my doctor who dismissed my complains as 'inflammation'. i put my trust in him. i should have taken control myself but i was being treated for clinical depression at that time and my ability to think was skewed. after my condition became unbearable due to intense pain and lack of mobility, i changed doctors, it took her about three weeks to finish running tests that my other doctor refused to do, it was discovered that i have advanced invasive, aggressive breast cancer that has metastasized to all my major bones. it is too late for mastectomy or regular chemo. i would gladly lose both breasts if it would help. i did good for two yr just taking Arimidex but it quit working and it is too soon to tell if the new med is being effective. losing a breast is much better than losing your life. get control of you own life, insist on tests or find another doctor as i did. get a mammogram every year on your birthday, best gift you will ever have. Prayer and a positive attitude is very important, they have kept me alive over two years now. i've had radiation and it made so sick i thought it would kill me but i recovered and was able to be mobile again. that was worth it but at the time i had my doubts. life is precious, i will hang in there as long as quality of life. Good luck, i wish you the best and peace for whatever you decide.

Not sure what cancer you have, but I routinely ask people when I hear they had cancer if they had chemo or rad...and if they would do it again. The answer is always NO. They give 2 arguments...1. If you are going to die in x amount of years...shouldn't you enjoy them? and 2. They both make you feel horrible with nausea and no energy, when you feel like that every day you want to die.

New research shows that cancer cells are covered with insulin receptors. Studies suggest that diets high in sugar, since sugar raises insulin levels in your blood, makes cancer cells replicate faster.

Food for thought. Remember a diagnosis of cancer is terrifying to anyone...don't make a decision out of fear. I also feel like when doctors and pharmaceutical companies hear that you have cancer and you might die (for example), they see they have one more chance to soak you, your family, and insurance companies with ludicrously expensive drug therapies that don't work, before you pass.

This may sound depressing, sorry, but you will probably feel more empoered if you change your lifestyle to include locally grown organic foods, no processed foods, clean water, more exercise in an effort to enable your body to fight the cancer naturally. Web sites for help are all over. Good luck to you and yours.

Only you know the answer to this one. You need to weigh up the options and decide. Life is precious and each moment is important. The chance to extend life is what chemo is all about. But that is your decision.

do it! for the good of your family! chemo is there to help NOT hurt! my mom has had breast cancer for over 15 years. if she decided she didnt want to do chemo they said that she would die within a year. and its true. its logic that she wouldnt be around for 15 yrs if she just said nah screw the chemo. she would be dead. so please do it! :) and she is on chemo now and guess what? no nausea no nothin. some ppl dont even get side effects so plz do it
