This is one reason that Yahoo! does not guarantee the answers given on this website. There are some things you can do. First, look at the user's profile. See how many Best Answers they've given. Read comments that people have posted to their answers. If they give a reference, check the reference. Last of all, google their answer.

You go to Yahoo Answers when you want a guess or opinions.
Otherwise, when you want facts, you either go to a search engine like Google or Ask.com, and from the URLs offered, you choose a standard reference, like a professional society's website or a university website, or one set up by a professional, like a law school or lawyer, or sometimes to Snopes.com, which does a good consistent job of dispelling rumors.
You do NOT go to Yahoo Answers for facts you must depend upon - there is no guarantee against garbage there.
I say this often in my "Yahoo Answers".

Its all about what we can share with others, from personal experience, for me it makes me feel good when I can help someone, seriously, btw....and often wonder why some of the answers don't even mesh with the questions being asked, but many people here take the questions seriously and answer to the best of our knowledge, go with the answer that works for you =)....it is a great tool! For most of us, its like helping others and ourselves.

Sometimes the answers are really good answers. Sometimes no one can answer the question correctly, I've found. Sometimes people just give joke answers, to get points.
So, ask the question & see what you get. Extend the timeline if you want some more answers, to try to get a good one.
