Stop complicating things and just follow the rules for crying out loud.
At 18, shouldn't you be moving away for college anyways?

You are absolutely correct. If you do exercise you right to be an adult, I hope you have another place to live. The house belongs to your parents, so they make the rules. So unless you pay rent and have a lease, maby you should look at why your in trouble and not what you can do to find a loophole in the system. After all you are eighteen. Maby you aren't acting like a responsible adult. Get a job and move out why you still know everything.

Legally you can move out of your parent's house. but if you want to live there then you must abide by their rules. It's only good manners.
If you feel your parents are still treating you like a teenager and not a young adult then I think you should sit down and discuss the issue with them.
It's much cheaper to live at home but then you have the house rules..... You have to choose which is more important.

they can't legally hold you at any age, but if you live in their house chances are you have to abide by their rules or you might have to find a new place to live!
why are you 18 and living at home anyways, start making changes to your behavior so you won't be like a child and get grounded and get a job and move out on your own.

Well, I'm sure you know that legally you're of age to do what you want, but as the previous answers pointed out if they are footing the bill then you have less say. I'm not sure how your parents would react if you just ignored their ruling, and unless you're prepared to hit the road, you may have to deal with it.
I know it sucks though.

No. by law they can NOT. I dare any parent try to ground their 18 year old and keep them from going anywhere. If they call the cops, then by the law of them being an adult, you will be arrested and charged with kidnapping. Plain and simple, learn the laws before you parents spout out stupidity.

Technically no they can't ground you. They can however kick you out of their house. If you wish to continue living in their house then you should abide by their rules.

if you're not retarded and under your parents legal supervision, legally, they can't do anything to stop you from leaving the house, however, if you're on their bread and under their roof you gotta realize that you are dealing with your parents and if you really want to be free from them trying to tell you what to do, you gotta become financially independent, get your own place, and be reasonably responsible for your own actions, otherwise this will never change.

Do you still live in their house? Eat their food, watch their t.v., use their electricity, borrow their money, borrow their car? Yeah, under those circumstances, I'd say they can still ground you. If you want to be grown, act grown and move out.
