Tina the answer is yes you must have the oil pan dropped and the rear main seal in always at the back just under the last connecting rod area, the seals are not too expensive but have your mechanic replace both seals and replace all that are showing signs of oil leaks too like the valve cover gaskets and hope I helped you out with the ?

I'm guessing you have the 4.0L V6 in your vehicle. In which case its either the oil pan seal, or the rear main seal, it can also be the valve covers. Ford has a problem with putting aluminum parts on cast iron engine blocks. Every 4.0L engine built leaks oil. Without looking at your vehicle I can't tell you where its leaking but I would check the 3 places mentioned above.

As for your transmission issue, it has to do with the transmission control computer on the overdrive light flashing. The 2nd gear band probably just needs adjusted, or the transmission is getting ready to go out. If the transmission hasn't been serviced try having it serviced first and see if that fixes the problem. It could just be a clogged filter.
