I believe most you have have the wrong answer because women wanting to be equal has nothing to do with a man opening the door. Equal Opportunity has to do with giving women the same opportunities in the work field. Acknowledgement that they have brains just the same as men. Women are NOT inferior. They were created to be a HELPMATE. They were not created to be the tail of anything or anybody. They were made to walk beside the man not behind. There are women who can do the same job a man does and sometimes even better.

So, out of courtesy and being just a plain GENTLEMAN, you would open the door, pull out the chair for her at a restaurant, stand up when she leaves the table to go to the ladies room, etc etc.

women should be treated equal because they are in the modern times. It is called being a gentleman when you open the door for a Lady. At least it is in most modern cultures anyway

We are equal. Women need to feel protected. Opening the door for them is a part of this.

I am the equal of any man. If you open the door for me I might think you were a gentleman. If you have to ask such a question suggests that you are not.

You don't have to do anything you don't want to do. I open the door for lots of people - men, women, kids... I appreciate it when it's done for me, too. It's a matter of courtesy that you can choose to extend or not, but it's not a requirement.

You are not asking the right question...Wouldn't everyone want to be treated equally, justly and fairly? Of course they would. Women want to be valued as equal to men..in their pay, opinions, rights, opportunities, etc. But that doesn't end respect and courtesy.

Well, we ARE equal to men, but because we women should be cherished and treated with love and respect, of course we want you men to open the door for us.

I open the door for both men and women when it's appropriate. It's called "common courtesy".

How about I open the door for you instead of you opening it for me.. Would that make you feel better about my being your equal?

actually some don't. One of my teachers said that when he was in college he took a woman's rights class because he needed the credit or something and one time he held the door for some girl and she FLIPPED. Said something like 'you think I'm too weak to open doors!?'

I dunno if that's actually true, but I thought it was pretty funny. but whatever, I hold doors for everyone.
