Okay. So I bought a steam iron (SUPER STEAM by Euro, made in italy) at a mall last year. I never needed the iron until today, so I used it. The iron got really hot, hot steams and water leaked and burnt my hand pretty bad. From what I remember, I paid $39.99 plus tax for this. I recently posted a question about this, and someone gave me a link to this site [http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/wirral/press%20-%20super%20steam%20iron.htm] which the UK government describes how the iron isn't safe and so we should immediately stop using it. (I'm in US by the way).

I finally found the original site for this iron [http://www.supersteamiron.com/index.html] and told them my issue through email, but I think they're not taking responsible for this malfunctioning iron because I'm not getting ANY replies at all. (((I'll notify you guys when I do)))

Being the typical poor college student I am, $39.99 is ALOT of money for me, and I'd hate to waste it... :(

What can I do? Please help, please?

You have to file a consumers complaint . Either your State division of Consumers Affairs or a local Better Business Bureau in your area. Write a letter and see what happens .

How did you pay for it? If it was by credit card, you *could* contact your credit company and log a complaint. While they are not responsible for product defect, they are often known to simply reverse the charge and wait for the vendor to object.

Beside it, unless there is a US recall, I doubt you could do much. It is even harder after you waited over 7 months to test it out.

Vendor doesn't really care about the fact you are a college student or the fact you don't have 39.99, so don't even bring it up if they reply and you start a conversation. All it says is, you could be *easily* pushed over and be ignored. (young, no money)

The key in winning an argument is to show them your strength, not weakness. (remember that...) For all they know, you could be a welthy and powerful executive.
