I only know 2 ways.
1. Increasing your meals frequency from the regular 3 meals per day to about 5 - 6 meals per day.
2. Exercising is the most common way to increase your metabolism, at least 30 mins per day and 4 - 5 times a week.

Some veggiest that can help speed up metabolism:
Carrots, broccoli, cabbage, asparagus, beet roots...

*You should also increase your protein and be active. Daily walking/running for 30 minutes to 1 hour is very helpful. The key is movement.

*Eat healthy carbs.

*Drink cold water.

*Eat whole and organic foods.

*Do not try to starve yourself. Instead, eat many small meals and then your metabolism will be active all the time.

Exercise is the best way to speed up your metabolism...but you can do it with nutrition too.

The best way to speed up your metabolism is to eat breakfast. When you sleep, your metabolism slows to its slowest rate...if you don't eat when you wake up, it stays in this sluggish state until much later in the day. Eating a good breakfast first thing in the morning gets your metabolism up so you burn more calories throughout the day (digestion actually burns a lot of calories).

Eating smaller, more frequent meals also speeds up your metabolism by keeing your digestive system active (and using energy to function) throughout the day.

As for specific foods, fish, green leafy veggies, fruits (esp. blueberries), and spicy foods (jalapenos, habaneros, and cayenne peppers contain capcasin that speeds up your heart rate...that's why heart patients are often advised to avoid Mexican food). Drinking plenty of water can also help.

I did find a good article with five categories of foods that can increase your metabolish...see http://www.sanbenito.k12.tx.us/Hot%20News/fifteen_foods.html

1) Eat 5 to 6 times a day.
2) Eat lots of veggies, lean meat and complex carbs
(low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein.)
3) Reduce sugar intake and simple carbs. They make
you hungry fast.Cut junk food .
4)Take 2 to 3 cups of low fat milk, cheese, low fat yoghurt and some dark chocolates.

My metabloism is high and my body burns with the heat.
I walk briskly for an hour every weekday morning to work off my calories.

And I am still at 108 lbs since I lost 31 lbs one year ago.
More details in my blog.

Quiety is right: frequent smaller meals+ exercise. I just wanted to add that the more lean body mass you have, the more calories your body will use...so build those muscles!
