I was just looking in my fridge and I honestly think that we could have normal meals (without fresh products of course) for three weeks without feeling the pinch? I think I need to quit going to the store so much!

Oh gosh Mel...me too.

I have some need to keep my house over-stocked with food. I have a second fridge/freezer downstairs.

It is an area I have a total lack of control. I think it comes from the fear of not being able to buy food. When we were first married we were broke (probably the first 5-6 years) Buying food was a stressful expense.

Now that we can afford to spend money I buy and stock the food in the house like a crazy woman...

Yeah I need some therapy with this one.....

If I am real careful and I don't have to worry about how to get things like milk and fresh vegetables, we could probably last about 6 months. The meals might get boring after a while but the food volume is there.

Funny you should ask! I was just telling my grown daughter the other day how nice it is to have what looks like a grocers shelf in my pantry when for most of my life I went to the store buying and planning every meal for the week. At the end of the week there might be 1/2 box of flour.

Right now I could probably go for a week, more if I ate the stew I have in the freezer. I'm trying to waste less food, and I've found that I do better if I make fewer store runs. (Also, it's the stuff I buy on impulse that tends to go bad and not get eaten.)

between two pantries a chest freezer and fridge i probably could feed my family for 6 to 9 months with the exception of things like fresh milk.

As far as meats and frozen veggies, at least three weeks, maybe more. Months worth of rice. But I'd run out of milk in a day (I got through a gallon every two-three days). Would need juice too.

I keep a 6 month supply of food in the freezer and on the shelf at all times. I got snowed in one time for over a month and my cupboards were bare. Since then I stock up. I live in Southern AZ now and I STILL stock up.

I used to be like that then my fridge died and I lost about $500 worth of food (no joke) now I only have enough for about 1 week and I actually like it.

I'm a poor student and I live alone, I don't even have enough food for today! If there was a disaster that meant I had to live off what's in my cupboard, I'd be dead in less than a week.
