When it is not being used in prayer, but being used lightly, like people use it everyday, then yes it is a sin, because we are taking the name of God in vain.
'Thou shat not take the name of the the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.' Exodus 20:7

If you are saying it as an exclamation, yes, it is definitely a sin. It is using the Lord's name in vain; breaking one of the Ten Commandments. I cringe when I hear people use the Lord's name in vain, especially people who claim to be Christians. We should only use the name of God when we are praising, praying, or witnessing/teaching.

If you don't believe in God than there is no such thing as sin. And if you do than what is wrong with calling out to Him?

Do not take the LORD OUR GOD'S name in vain. When you speak the HOLY NAME OF THE LORD . .. remember who you are talking to. Some people say it for everything all the time but may even say they don't believe in GOD . .. if you were in trouble call upon the NAME THAT IS ABOVE ALL OTHER NAMES by all means . .. but please do not use the HOLY NAME OF GOD in vain . .. We should be careful how and when we speak HIS HOLY NAME.
-LOVE your neighbor as yourself.
Amen.

Not if you're praying...
The slang we use today is definitely slang - it's taking the Lord's name in vain.
