I heard somebody say earlier today that Atheists are just angry and unfriendly people who are mad that they never fit in , so we blame god for our misfortunes. After I stopped laughing and caught my breath I decided to post this question. What do you all think? Do you consider yourself an angry person? I would just like to hear your thoughts?

I am not an angry Atheist...I am the nicest person I know. I would help an old woman across the street for sure. And I always offer Mormon Missionaries a cup of coffee.

I am a dissatisfied person, not necessarily an angry one. I look around at my fellow humans, 90% of whom are locked into a crippling delusion. How can I be happy?

Of course, I get along swimmingly with other atheists.

Well, since you ask, yes, I am very easy to get along with. There are things that make me upset, but I don't go around yelling about them to strangers. Oddly, it doesn't seem to be atheists doing that. I never saw an atheist turn up unwanted at a stranger's funeral and tell anyone around, including the bereaved parents, that the deceased was in hell. I never saw an atheist harass a young girl going into a clinic for medical care. I never saw an atheist tell me that my mother, or the Dalai Lama, or Ghandi, are in hell. Well, you get the idea.

As long as you leave my beliefs (and everyone has them, they just might not be religious) alone and don't abuse the vulnerable (children, animals...) around me, I am sweet and friendly and mind my own business. Every atheist I know is about the same.

I do realize that people are mean and horrible because they were brought up to be so, not because of a specific religious belief, in and of itself. And that there are exceptions to every rule. But, if Christians are going to make comments like that, I think it bears pointing out that, as a group, atheists seem less aggressive than they do.

If atheists seem angry and unfriendly to a Christian (I assume that's who made the initial statement), then that Christian probably has been told to buzz off (likely more than once!) because he was preaching unwanted concepts. Just guessing.

Oh man, once again, the person who said "atheists are just angry and unfriendly people who are mad that they never fit in, so [you] blame God for [your] misfortunes" don't speak for all Christians. I'm a Christian because of that I'm automatically la bled a bigot who hates gay people and doesn't believe in evolution, which is all untrue. I can respect your views and hope you would do the same with mine. I believe I speak for the majority of my religion, if not a great part. I believe that if I'm going to want people to be apart of my religion then I should model what it is all about, understanding, love, etc.

Too quote Gandhi proves my point, "I don't dislike your Christ, I dislike your followers, your followers are so unlike your Christ." (I think that the quote, it was something like that)
He also said "Hate sin, love the sinners." (That's an exact quote)

Whether I deserve it or not, I have a reputation of being one of the nicest guys in the American theatre. My boyhood anger has subsided down to almost zero and my life was enriched by a beautiful wife and some coins in my jeans and audiences and applause and the English language I love and schooling in Paris and a generally progressive liberal mindset. In my profession I am accessible up to a couple of hours before the curtain, I do not ask much of the good people who assist me, I'm a fool for my friends' kids, giving them books and games constantly, and I smile and laugh a lot. I would say that most atheists are pretty much similar in everyday life. And why wouldn't we be? Only the pitiful Fundies attempt to demonize us.

I am not a full on atheist. I just don't know what i believe. However, they are not unfriendly angry people. They just tend to believe in a science more than a god. Evolution vs. creationism. Its a bad rep they get, but trust me, you couldn't pick an atheist out on the street. They are normal people who just don't tend to believe in a god. There is nothing wrong with it.

I'm Gnostic but because of my different beliefs I've been branded by an atheist by many a "christian"

So I will answer.

Yes, I am nice and easy to get along with. Until someone starts making personal remarks, or if a Christian starts getting pushy, then I get a little testy and will give my opinion right back.

I think I am pretty easy to get along with. I have fed people without food, gotten clothing for people whose clothes were stolen, taken in homeless people and given money to people who need it. I have even worked in the prison system. I am an atheist who is pleasant and reasonably fun in a geeky sort of way.

I think God stories, although fabrications, are very important for people who cannot get past them. Even though they are fiction, it is where that group of people are at. If you sincerely believed in demons and witchcraft as many people in Africa do, and did not believe in germs. A way to keep people alive is to work with their cultural myths until you can teach the next generation the truth.

I do get grouchy when tired and angry if you threaten to harm something that is important to me, but I do not hold grudges and I try to find the best in people. I tend to be a little intolerant of willful ignorance, but not stupidity. Stupidity is fine, closed minds and hearts do bug me.

I'm not an Atheist, but the ones I know are very nice, easy to get along with and not judgmental or angry.

I would say I'm easy to get along with. I have many friends who belong to different religions.

When someone says "you're angry because you don't fit in", I consider that a compliment.

What kind of question is that you jerk of course I'm not angry -- how dare you even ask? Argh!

Actually, I'm not an atheist, but I think your question is flawed because few if any people will say they are angry. It's like asking if people think they are of above average intelligence. You will get far more than 50% of people to say yes.
