I've got a couple of pages into the Sanderson Beck translation, and I think it's excellent. It certainly ranks alongside the Greco-Roman religious epics, and it's a great shame that it's not as well known. I'd like to read the entire Mahabharata, but I have studies.

I love the Sanksrit shlokas of Gita and have memorized around 50 of them. Sanskrit, by definition is a very polished language and cultivates clean, peaceful thoughts in a person. Gita's message is very clear and has a universal, cosmic appeal and I wish anyone with the slightest knowledge about themselves to cultivate the lessons of Gita.

Namaste.

The latest version of the series of such religious book which is for the entire human world is The Quran, which is not touched or maligned by human hand and shall be protected by The God until The Dooms Day.So every human being should read it once as it is final Book of the series and vergin.

My take was that Arjuna was on the battlefield called the mind and he had cowered down in fear, even though he was the greatest warrior of all. Krishna, or God in form, came and restored Arjuna to his rightful position and then expounded the whole systems of yoga and its practice. Through this beautiful discourse Arjuna is awakened to his true state of oneness with his beloved Krishna.

I have read most of it and I really liked it. I found that I could only read a bit at a time and let it sink in slowly.

Namaste!

Hindu Holy Book. I read it and found it to be simple minded "deep" sayings. That's just my impression. Just because it has some truth doesn't make it the "right path".
