Are you born of the Spirit?
Jesus said unless a man is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.
When we are born of God we receive a new life principle which enables us to live by the power of God, producing the fruit of the (Holy) Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and self control. (Galatians 5:22-23)
It is only when we see ourselves in the light of the Gospel, and realize God so valued us that He sent His Son from heaven to redeem us by dying for us on the cross that we can begin to develop a healthy sense of self worth.
God gives us a great hope of a wonderful future in Christ.

Self confidence comes only when you realize how much God loves you and how special you are because He made you. I struggled with self confidence all my life and I have finally come to the realization of the above statement and am finally happy with who I am (not by what I own, how I look). I feel I can now give more to society because I am not worried about what other people think of me. Pessimistic personality I think stems from disappointments I know that when my hopes and dreams don't come to past, I get this way. Just be thankful for what you have, who you are and enjoy all the great things about yourself.

I can relate. For me having a difficult childhood has been the biggest contributer to those qualities. Being in therapy has helped me alot. Pessimism takes actual work to get rid of. What I do sometimes is count my blessings. I know it sounds corny, but focusing on the positive stirs up positive feelings (for me). If you believe in a higher power, prayer helps. Be gentle with yourself. Healing takes time.

I have those problems sometimes too.
Some days I am very confident and strong. Almost always I am pessimistic, especially when it comes to men.
