The high speed drills they use now minimize the pain. They do not get hot (air or water cooled) so you don't feel the burning or vibration as they cut through to the rotted part.
Most people do not need an injected pain-killer so you avoid the long term annoyance of your mouth being numb for hours. The drilling discomfort is gone in minutes.

It is not bad if you know what to expect. I will try to do that for you. They might give you gas, that just makes you feel peculiar. They will put the teeth to sleep with a needle. It it just a little sting. You will feel tingly. Be prepared to stay open for quite a while. They will do all the cavities in an area. You will hear some whirring sounds and maybe feel the dentist pushing gently. After the dentist cleans out the decay, the dentist may put something around the tooth to hold the material in place. Soon you will be finished. Your mouth in that area will stay tingly for a while. The worst part was just you being aftraid.

OMG, 8's a lot! But I'm sure it's gonna be fine. It does kind of hurt, but I've had so much more cavities than other people and I'm only 13. I'm sure it's gonna be fine. It's not a pain that you can't come over, my first cavity was when I was 4, my mom's a dentist, and she told me I was crying REALLY much but she didn't stop me, she just waited until I calmed down and told me exactly what was going to happen and I was OK. I'm really scared of the dentist, I even cry these days at the dentist (which, simply, is at my mom). Good Luck!

It does not hurt. They will numb you mouth before they start drilling so you won't feel it. My question is how did you manage to get 8 cavities in 6 months??? Does the dentist have a clue what might have happened since your last 6 month check up? I find it hard to believe that 8 cavities just all of a sudden popped up 6 months time.

Keep up with the mouse traps. Don't do the poisons as that is a lie. They tell you that it dehydrates them, but if they are stuck in a wall when they die, they stink like crazy for months. IOW, some just eat a little, get real sick and slowly die. They don't just keel over and dry up. The humane mouse traps are better for small mice. However you have to take them far way. At least a block. Not next door as they will come back. You will find that when you get all of them, they are gone. They have a family. I had 4 of them. I was certain there were two. I finally got 3 and decided that was all. But I still had a couple of traps set. About a week later I caught the 4th. Then saw no more until the next winter. So what I am saying there are not a lot of them "coming in"... they are already there. You just need to get them all. Here is the trick for spotting them: "If you "think" you saw one out of the corner of your eye, you did." Best bait is peanut butter. Let it set out for a while so it is thick. And stick it on the tab good and push it in... the longer they fiddle with it the better. The plastic tabs do no better than the metal ones. Maybe plastic is easier to set. Never use the sticky ones as that is way too cruel. People should go to prison for using those. BTW, they are not eating your house... they are moving up and down your walls. It's just a tunnel for them. Someone mentioned it, but there probably are some boxes torn open on the bottom where they are getting their food. You have to completely clean out the pantry. Dog food bags are real popular for them. And they are probably eating your dog's food if you have it sitting out in his bowl all day long. In my opinion, you don't clean up all the food so they will leave and go to another house, but you do it so your bait on the traps are more enticing. BTW, they are in the walls because it is their home... it is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Behind the stove and fridge gets too hot. But yes they come out all the time... they don't stay in the walls and not in the attic (like I thought) since a pest control guy said they don't live up there, but in the walls.

it doesn't hurt at all. they put a mask on your nose and u breathe in this stuff and it makes u numb and also they give u shots in your gums but u don't feel it. it makes u more numb. but don't be scared. I've never had one but i had 3 little ones but they just put something over them but not a cap or a crown. but u might have to have a cap or crown. it depends on how big they are. but remeber- it doesn't hurt a bit.
