It would be under "Stated U.S objectives and strategies."

First I would like to say I, like many of you, do not believe this war was handled correctly
second
I wish all the Bush bashers would at least have an inkling of an idea of what's going on before they post......
we are still in Iraq because we do not want to cause a civil war, which is what will happen when we pull.
I phrased my above statement for a reason..... Right now the US is doing all the fighting and defending for free Iraq..... We cannot continue our level of support in time for Iraq to be able to support themselves on their own, so we have a problem to which the solution is not an easy one....
many will say that we could have avoided this situation by not going into Iraq in the first place. however no one will argue that Saddam was not an evil man who murdered his own people and had previously (at some point in time) dabbled in NBCs (nukes, Bios, and chemical weapons). His regime needed to be removed from power.... maybe we went about doing this the wrong way... who knows
so no matter what the half educated people on the message board post, please take everything with a grain of salt and realize that their is no absolutely right answer, and try to educate yourselves further
AND to answer your question::::
we wont be pulling out any time soon. not even with a new administration

First, let me say that as a member of the US Air Force, I hate questions like this. I don't get on the Internet and question when any other occupation is going to do something. What does the average American have invested in this war? How many of you have a direct connection to when the troops (my brothers & sisters) come home? Less than 1% of Americans join the armed forces, so I'll say that the war directly affects around 3 to 4% of the population, that being the military families left at home while we are overseas. Please watch the news and see what the military members (not the parents, elected officals, or church leaders) on the ground in Iraq say. We know what our job is, we know what we need to do to acomplish our job, we want to do our job, now let us do our job and quit screaming for us to give up and get out.
Now to awnser your question, When did we get out of Germany in WWII? When did we get out of Japan after WWII? When did we get out of Korea? When did we get out of Bosnia? We haven't. The United States has a history of establishing a military presence just about everywhere we put troops on the ground. We'll be in Iraq for a long time, once the country is stabalized the average American citizen will forget about us being there as well.

First off, I support the troops whole-heartedly, they are doing their job and I thank them for that. I do NOT support the presidential administration for what they are doing to the troops and their families.
My guess is we'll pull out when Bush is out of office-*hopefully.*
It all boils down to oil and determination. Corporate America wants the oil and they are determined to find reasons to stay over there.
I hate hearing we need to win the war. What war? On Terror? There will never be an end to terror- I hate to say it, but it's true.
And as far as I've heard the Iraqis don't want our troops there any way, the bombings aren't telling you that?
They probably want their country back from "big brother" Bush so they can live how they want to.

Since we found that there are no weapons of mass destruction and Saddam Hussein is gone we will most likely pull out when Hillary Clinton takes office.

Ok for all of you people who think that Bush lied about the WMD, How come you never mention that Clinton and his wife both claimed that he had WMD. So did they lie also. If so all you people who want to Impeach Bush SHOULD NOT consider even voting for Hillary. Hussein had WMD because he used them on his own citizens. If he used them all up why did he not let the UN inspectors into his country to prove he did not have them anymore.

When people let the Republican party Inc. sit one or two elections out and give them time weed out the corporate Royalist. It is time to throw the tea off the boats again.

We don't pull out until the job gets done and that's to WIN this war against these terrorists. We are still there because they are fighting for our FREEDOM! We are fighting the Islamo-fascists radical cowards because if we get them there, we won't need to deal with them here on our soil, I hope. Our soldiers are there for your freedom. Do you have hatred of the United States of America and hate our soldiers that you speak against them? These men and women joined the service because they wanted to protect our country. So, instead of complaining about when we are getting out of Iraq, why don't you 'thank' them for going out there to fight the enemy who wants to destroy us all.
We don't pull out until they get the job done!
