First, allow me to point out that not all Christians wear crucifixes. Catholics wear crucifixes; most Protestants wear crosses.

Second, I suppose we would wearing little gold electric chairs on chains if Jesus were electrocuted. The crucifix/cross is a powerful symbol of the great, almost unimaginable love that Jesus has for us--that he was willing to die to save us from our sins. It's more about the rising again than the cross, but Jesus couldn't have risen if he hadn't died. Why wouldn't we want to remember that?

ummm.... i'm a Christian and i don't wear a crucifix. It's mostly catholics that wear the crucifixes. It shows Jesus dying on the cross. I still don't know why, becuase the whole point of the cross is that Jesus didn't stay dead, He conquered death and wants to have a relationship with each and every person because He loves us, and that's the reason He died.

And i really don't like it when the term "Christian" is used so broadly. It is used to refer to a religion, and truthfully, Christianity isn't a religion, it's a relationship with Jesus. a true Christian is someone who has accepted that Jesus took the blame for their sin, and have a relatioship with Jesus. feel free to email me about anything.
God Bless

Yes, of course we would.

The instrument of his death and the reminder of his suffering is what the crucifix means. So, if he were to have been tortured and then died for us in an electric chair...then yes we would be wearing that as a reminder.

The important thing is to be reminded...not to forget his sacrifice.

Well I suppose I just might. I think I would opt for the miniaturized version though. Like the very small crucifix that I wear daily.

Good question.... I once wondered that myself, and then I researched the answer. I'll give you an overview.

Jesus was crucified by his choice! they did not kill him... at any moment he could have stopped the whole thing. but he decided not to, he decided to GIVE his life for our salvation.

The cross is a symbol of God's salvation plan. the cross represents the redemption that Jesus won for us. There is no salvation without redemption, and the cross is where Jesus redeemed us.

so to answer your question if i would wear an electric chair.... yes. i would wear anything that represents my salvation.

Lol, thats a good one!
Actually the cross symbolic is pretty powerful, not only in Christianity... So I guess its a remnant from the pagan ritual incorporated into Christianity... Most will not agree with me, but this symbol of cross was used way before Christ!!

Sometimes I have to wonder exactly what the extent of Christ's ressurection power was. He died basically in one piece but what if he had been cremated to ash after?
Would he have reconstituted back into his body intact?
I mean when he rose from the dead he didnt seem to have regenerated his injuries so it was almost like an undead living corpse type of deal it seems.

same old argument the Jehovah's Witnesses use to back up their rejection of the cross

Do you have a better suggestion for us to use that would symbolize everything that our faith is based upon?

If Christ didn't die and raise again, then none of us have eternal life . The cross is the basis for accessing all that God has in store for us.
