You can either put it in the freezer and stir regularly (every half hour or so), recipes with alcohol like rum raisin are best for this as the icecream freezes to a different consistency since alcohol has a lower freezing point than cream. Or pack the outside of the container with ice and then pour salt on. The salt makes the ice melt quickly which dramatically lowers the temp of your container making it freeze faster.

First follow your favorite recipe. Then put it in the freezer. You will need to stir frequently (every 15 minutes or so) especially at first.

It should be pretty good.

If you enjoy it though, an ice cream maker is pretty cheap - you can buy them for less than $30.

Don't forget the rock salt. You've got to get the ice cream down to about 7 degrees F. Anything warmer won't work. Good luck. Keep stirring. I guess you just made your own ice cream maker.

You can place your ice cream mixture in a quart sized zipper bag. Then place it inside a gallon size zipper bag that is full or ice and salt (the salt will help bring down the temp. quickly). Then roll the bags around (being careful not to pop them open) until your ice cream has formed.

You can use 2 tin coffee cans....one large one and one smaller on....put your ingredients into the smaller can and place the lid tightly on top and center it in the bigger can....add ice and rock salt to this, around the smaller can then roll the can around on the floor, in about 15-20 min or so, you will have ice cream.
