A 2nd lieutenant is equivalent to an Ensign in the navy, I believe the G-rating is 0-1. To clarify what was reported earlier, a 1st lieutenant is equivalent to a navy lieutenant JG, 0-2. A Captain is equivalent to a navy lieutenant, 0-3. A major is equivalent to a navy Lt. Commander, 0-4. A Lt. Colonel is equivalent to a navy Commander, 0-5. A Colonel is equivalent to a navy Captain, 0-6. etc.

Yeah, you kinda worded that wrong, in my opinion. Looks like I'm not the only one to have a nerve touched by that. We all know what you mean...it just came out wrong. Yes, technically, you are above the enlisted. Every single officer who isn't a 2nd Lieutenant will outrank you, though, including a 1st Lieutenant. So, let's say for instance, that the Sergeant Major of the Army is walking by you on the street. Technically, he would have to salute you. And he probably would. But he knows more about the Army than you probably ever will. No offense...but it's the truth. The best officers are the ones who admit when they need to be taught something. They will go up to their senior enlisted (maybe even the junior enlisted), and admit that they need the enlisted person's help understanding something. The failures are the ones that pretend to know it all when they clearly don't. I'm not saying that I think you will be like that. I'm just passing on some friendly info.

There's no equivalent. That's the specify rank. The rank carries the tasks and the responsibilities. Lieutenant is an army officer next below captain and 2nd Lieutenant is an army officer next below Lieutenant. Both are young army officer 'In Lieu' of a captain.
a. 1st 'In Lieu' of the captain is the Lieutenant.
b. 2nd 'In Lieu' of the captain is the 2nd Lieutenant.
