Recently I've been dealing with an outrageous amount of stress at work that has inadvertantly made me physically sick. I do work out but it doesn't seem to be enough - any one have any ideas? Thanks!

Deep breathing, visualization, yoga, prayer, talking to someone who really understands you. These things help me but if I get physically sick I see my Dr. When stress makes you sick, you need more than what anybody here can do for you.
Hope you get to feeling better.

GO OUT ON my back patio, have a smoke, and read a chapter or two of my latest favorite sci-fi / fantasy novels. Or wait until my wife and son go to bed, then sit up for a couple hours and play video games. The BEST way to deal with stress is to do something that you enjoy or relaxes you - no matter what it may be. And if someone bugs you while you are relaxing, tell them to go away, you are de-stressing, but if they persist, then you might need to find a new spot where no one will bother you for as long as it takes to get rid of the stress.

personnally i find a team sport is very good to get your mind off matters and get rid of stress.

i play competitive soccer, but i know any team sport, regardless of what level you play, will clear your head and get you focused on what your task for the team is.
i highly recommend looking into a local team, maybe if sport isnt your thing, look into a type of club to participate in, be it a book club, a shopping club(hey, ya never know?) or anything that your interested in or just try something new.

you will surprise yourself and be happy with the mental, social, physical and stress relief this will give you.

whatever your desicion is, i wish you the very best : )

exercise helps me Just going for a walk around the block makes a big difference. Working out doesn't relax me because I just keep turning things over in my mind when I do it. I need to do something fun like walk, swim, bike or play a sport.

A friend of mine has a very stressful job. he says he goes to the firing range and practice shooting a large caliber pistol, and the stress just melts away.

You need a place for your mind to go. Try a hobby or go see movies, ball game, or a flower show.

Meditate, talk to a friend, do something you enjoy, take a nice warm bath, get a massage!
