Well, Another Dachshund would be a perfect match (Some Females are REALLY aggressive when put with another Female), but if you have enough time and enough Dubloons (Thats what I call money), you can have another Dachshund (Male) and they could possibly mate, usually producing between 2-4 "Sausages" (baby Dachshunds), and to grow, they need to be constantly fed to not lose growth balance (in other words, growing at the "last second", which is the last week of being a "baby". which would cause many disease and illnesses, such as Lung Failure, Spinal Scopilosis and many more.

Bassett Hounds are one of the most non-aggressive laid back and loving breeds out there and especially love other hounds. I have 2 and they absolutely adore children, are almost incapable of biting and are never dog-aggressive. I have had mine around every breed I can think of and there has never been an incident. They also have short coats that are easy to clean. Downside - The trademark bark! Not a good choice for someone in an apartment. Also they are a bit stubborn! House breaking takes a little longer and I've found males are easier than females. Good luck with your search.

It would be a roll of the dice. I assume your dog, the dachshund, is well trained, socialized, know you are alpha, right? If not then if problems arise you will not have the tools to deal with the problems. What would be ideal is to find a golden that has an omega drive. They would then get along just great.

Most likely another dachshund. I had an aggresive female once, but we got a male labrador and she absoloutely loved him! She was so upset we he died. Just get a dog of the opposite sex that is known to be calm around other dogs. Check the animal shelters around you.

Don't get a golden. . . for many reason. . .
Anyway. . . if you want another dog, get one of similar size with the same energy, or lower. That will make it work best.
I would suggest a rescue dog that you and your dog will be able to meet first.
I have a bichon who is wonderful with my mini, I also have a doxie/ terrier cross who is good too. I always have at least two dogs for many of the reason you said. I like to see them play with each other and I knowing they are not alone when I am gone. Dogs are pack animals I believe they like to be with others of their own kind as well as with us.
Check out this animal planet dog selector, it will help you find dogs that will meet your needs http://animal.discovery.com/breedselector/dogselector.do
To make the old dog still feel loved when you get the new dog, make sure you spend time with him one on one. I do training with each dog individually. My older dog gets to sleep at my head, the bichon sleep in a crate ( because she poops on the floor in the middle of the night) and the other doxie sleeps. . . about at my knees. Remmy get many treats first, etc.
If you make your choice carefully with your first do in mind, you may find a very good friend your your first buddy.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/am6Cw
If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.
It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

In my opinion I would say a Pug. They're great little dogs. Playful, layed back, and smart. But they are prone to a few health problems like skin allergies.
