I notice a lot of non-Muslims saying that we do nothing about terrorism.. that we sit back and just talk. I for one, along with many sisters have had rallies here in NY against terrorism. But my question is,

WHAT ARE YOU DOING for the thousands of civilians being killed in Iraq? Do you think it's humane to sit back and watch these innocent folk die.. and to see the soldiers of this country die for no absolute cause?

*Ends don't justify the means*

"Meanwhile, 50 strikes on top Iraqi leaders failed to kill any of the intended targets, but instead killed dozens of civilians, the Human Rights Watch report revealed. The U.S. “decapitation” strategy relied on intercepts of senior Iraqi leaders´ satellite phone calls along with corroborating intelligence that proved inadequate. As a result, the U.S. military could only locate targets within a 100-meter radius – clearly inadequate precision in civilian neighborhoods"

Allah will decide if i'm a hypocrite or not. Yes, they are dying for absolutely no cause. If mass murder of innocent civilians is your definition of "freeing the opressed" then you need to take a good look at the families of the civilians and the soldiers. THEY WOULD BEG TO DIFFER. Peace!

I am a non muslim although I am still pondering the idea of Islam. To be honest all I am doing about any tragedy is being the best person I can be and trying to show kindness to everyone and be considerate and tolerate rude remarks. This way hopefully I could get more people to follow my example..NOT THAT I AM DOING A GOOD JOB..but I am trying. So who knows I could prevent a future terrorist from coming about. What can we really do? There are problems within America as well. Take that shooting in the Virginia Tech Campus. While some look at him like a complete jerk with no mercy; I actually feel pity for him. No one is born bad in my opinion if you are born human. [buddhist belief that it is a great honor to be reincarnated into a human]. Something has to provoke them. You should also count mob mentality..maybe if those terrorists were raised in a different environment with people whose idea of defending their religon was different then they wouldn't be like that. I am not acting as though what any terrorist did was right. I am just telling some people that we need to try to understand people before we just automatically critisize them..What do some think that people who claim to be Hindu, Christian, or Jewish do not kill people too? I used to live in an area near drug dealers how ever they also went to church. Go to the southside of Chicago; there are so many ghettos there and yet there's almost a church on every block. I know people that make fun of gay people because they are Catholic and they aren't making fun of gay people just to hurt their feelings; they are doing it because they feel that they are defending their God of whom they love. Of course it is wrong; but maybe if people would take more time..to be considerate..and do a little bit of research before they just say muslims do nothing about Islam..that is wrong to even generalize it in the first place being that if they actually KNEW muslims..and would consider their own faults before they look at muslims..they would know that muslims are doing something about it. It is a disgrace that these terrorists do not interpret the Quran right and assume it is ok to just hurt people..or maybe they are only using the Quran as an excuse and not really striving to be loyal to Allah.

I am a muslim. But i do not have the patience to read what other said. I will just ask this do we muslims have the patience and go and kill innocent people in the name of what ever that terrorist say they do. Geez, where in Quran did we find the verse that says kill innocent people in the name of the religion or decapitate and show the world what fool you make yourself. Where do muslims get all this time to do this hedious things when a musilm should be busy praying. Isnt that why we were sent to earth. Then why do we think more of the world, Here i will show you the surah which i believe was not only ment for others but for us muslims too!

102.Surah At-Takathur (The Piling up)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious , Most Merciful

1.
The mutual rivalry For pillin up (the good things Of this world) diverts you
(From the more serious things),

2.
Until you visit the graves.

3.
But no, you soon shall Know (the reality).

4.
Again, you soon shall know!

5.
No, were you to know With certainty of mind, (You would beware!)

6.
You shall certainly see Hell-fire!

7.
Again you shall see it With certainty of sight!

8.
Then you shall be Questioned that Day About the joy
(You Indulged in!).

My question is where do all these extremist get all this time to plan their attacks if they are so busy with their prayers and reading the meanings of Quran.!!!

IS it not our duty to bring back our brothers and sister(who bares such hate for others, forgetting that It is Allah who has created us all and he is to decide what is to happen to us) back to the right path. Why are we forgetting the teachings of Quran and misinterpreting the wrong!! Is it right to teach some one how to read Quran with out telling him the meaning on what he is reading. Then what is the difference between us and a parrot that can only repeat.

If we want peace so badly, then it depends on both the muslims and the non-muslims and how they treat each other.

Many ignorant people assume that Muslims condone terrorism when in fact they CONDEMN it.

A prejudice media on the loose + a mass of uneducated Westerners = convincing propoganda that is a true success.

Ignorance is definitely vital here. And its not even the fact that people who do not know make impulsive statements and false accusations; many people are content with what they do "know", and do not want to know anything else that would change their mind. Many of these people are not willing to know the truth, an love knowing more of what they believe is true. They are satisfied with what they hear because it gives them another reason to hate Islam, and if any Muslim (or Non-Muslim) tries to explain...teach...EDUCATE people about the truth and break down the misconceptions, not many people are willing to listen. Therefore its not only that they do not know, but that they do not WANT to know; they are content with the information they like to hear and are satisfied with the lies and rumors given to them..

Muslims DO speak out against terrorism..but a bias media wouldn't show this, unless somehow this "speaking out" involves some sort of violence or will defame Islam. So people wonder why Muslims commit terrorism (what they hear), and then wonder why they do nothing about it (what they don't hear). It really isn't fair how a main "superpower" can manipulate the minds of a good chunk of the world, and this manipulation called propoganda is a mainstream success in making people believe by only showing them one perspective through the lens of only their eyes, and enforcing these beliefs on the people. Its really not fair because, unfortunately, Islam and Muslims are the victims...

Some people wonder why much of the Middle East hates the west/America. I'd certainly be enraged if a foreign country was occupying my country! They insist that US troops are there for their safety and protection..the media also insists this, once again only giving one side of the story, a partial truth that only concerns its agenda. And not many people are even buying this excuse, as the USA is a country in some trillion amount of dollars in debt, aiding ANOTHER country when inhabitants of its own are suffering.

Ignorance. People believe what they hear, especially if they like what they hear, and these people like hearing negative things about Islam (or so it seems), and therefore leave no room for truth and justice. They do not want to know the truth; they love the "truth" that is already given to them.

Well, what I am doing is not voting for people who promote illegal wars... I am not voting for Johnny Howard. IMO, The US and leaders of Oz (and Britain) who condone the whole Iraqi war are all in it for the oil, and that's all. They don't care about civilians. Their "war on terror" is terrorism itself...

However, I hope that militant Muslims realise that killing more innocent people isn't going to help. Diplomacy is the key... I'm listening...

If only I knew what the majority of Iraqis wanted Australians, Americans and Brits to do about it... then I would know for certain that I am right to vote for those who believe that the troops should be pulled out. I think our countries have much to pay for the destabilisation of Iraq. If that means $$$, then I am willing to do my part and pay... but who can I pay it to?

I don't really know what to do, but I'm betting that voting against those who enact illegal wars is a step in the right direction.

Its a tragic mess. How to fix it though ? Possibly a large UN force from non-close-by muslim nations + a few others -
Malaysian, Moroccan, indonesian, Bangladeshi, Kyrgyzstan with maybe non-muslim countries like Cuba, Venezuela, Sri lanka, Finland could stamp out the extremist violence.

Could muslims send youths there to help out. If they saw many young idealistic youths rebuilding everything perhaps it might help .. although the sectarian and Al-quaeda killers are so awful they'd probably just have a new target. So the large UN force idea I mentioned first would be better.

All war is terrible, this one is particularly tragic because its justifications are so dubious, that's the first thing.

What Americans HAVE done is vote. We knocked a whole lot of hawks out of Congress in a huge shift of power, and we're extremely likely to have a Democratic president next time around. And that's all about people here trying to stop the war.

The fact is, we don't know how to fight this, and we're backed into a corner of not wanting to kill civilians because our enemies don't have nations anymore. We won World War II by carpet-bombing Germany, it wasn't about trying to save the people. The people were not overthrowing their government so we didn't care about them. But now, we've got terrified civilians who don't WANT to support extremists, but who fear getting murdered by their neighbors enough to go along with it.

This is a nightmare, you are absolutely right about that. I'm certainly not for carpet-bombing Iraq. It seems like we're going with the attitude that "regime change starts at home" and hoping that Arab rulers simultaneously try to put an end to their centuries-old quarrels with one another. We exacerbated that problem, but it is also part of the problem today, without doubt.

This war has turned me into an anti-theist. I'm not just an atheist, I aggressively oppose religion. It has caused some of the largest acts of mass murder in human history, in the name of righteousness. Not that I have much hope that it will be eradicated.

That is so terrible to hear and know that innocent people are dieing of all races just because one race or religion thinks they are better than another and visa versa. It is ignorance. I thank you for doing your part in fighting the war against ignorance and terrorism. I can say I do my ity bity part by preaching Universal Love of God on Yahoo answers and other ways. Your God is my God. Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc One Supreme God with many Names. Hallelujah, Hare Krishna, Allah Akbar, God is One. (I have a bumper sticker I made with this and has all religious symbols on it) I also sell them.
I also am a strict vegetarian. You may say how the hell does that help the war??? and the answer is Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita (Song of God) "As long as their is animal slaughter, ther will be war and famine." That is because for all those animals being slaughtered a person has to be slaughtered. "What goes around comes around." The soul is the soul no matter what body it is in. The proof of the soul is the life within. (including animals). Unless people understand this point they will go on killing animals and humans. Eating animal flesh supports animal slaughter, which supports war and starvation. SO I willl not killllll for my own sense gratification of the tongue and belly. It is a great sin and we will have to pay. Will you join me in the rest of your life to fast from eating animal flesh? Then together will will help stop the war. Glories to Allah Akbar!!!

786.......

The world has many things that will benefit man and make life more comfortable.
The world has many things that will take away from man his true birthright.

Illusion and darkness are threatening man with heartache and pain. The clouds of destruction are hovering over the planet, even as we speak. Man knows not who or what to trust.

Conflicts have been present in mans past since the time of Adam(PBUH). This has been discussed in many Holy Books
for thousands of years.

This is happening today because of ignorance and false wisdom in man. What appears to be Wisdom to man is false wisdom in disguise. Leaders of all the major powers are suffering from apparently the same symptoms, that being assurance and confidence that what they're doing is correct.

If man would clear his heart and allow Gods Qualities into his heart, mans heart would radiate into the world with Gods qualities. This is when man changes from a human being into a "True Human Being". It would not take many "True Human Beings" to change the direction in which the world is moving.

Thus, man needs to eliminate the egotistical and arrogant qualities of the past and allow Gods qualities to fill the inner heart. This is what will change the clear and present danger we see today.

Salaams,

I'm not responsible for actions of other people and I really don't care about terrorism. They spreaded violence and they got violence. That's all I can say. You're totally right, Americans talk about their dead while they're easily killing others. First of all, what are those armed "tourists" doing in Iraq in Afghanistan? Fighting them is not terrorism, any invaded nation would fight foreign occupation; and so Europe fought Hitler. I remourse dead civilians only. Those who speak about terrorism but "forget" about people killed in Iraq and Afghanistan are hypocrites and don't practice what they preach.

This Ummah has a lot of other problems to focus on rather than terrorism. That ideology will exist until US troops are in Iraq and Afghanistan and until the US keeps their policy of interfering into matters that don't concern them. They can conduct mass arrests, give independence to Kosovo, talk about peace, but until their actions show willingness for peace nothing will change.

For me those governments and terrorists are same. Both speak the language of violence, and unfortunately many civilians suffer because of their "dialogue".

Governments of Muslim countries are, honestly, among the most repressive regimes in the world so it would be better for them to keep quiet rather than blabber about stopping terrorism. When they do that, even more people support terrorism. Someone was talking about governments of Morocco and some other apostate regimes. They can sign a billion conventions and agreements but until they resign and let justice take over, they shall have no credibility in this Ummah.

And what can I do about terrorism? You think I can just write an email to Osama and ask him to stop? And even if I could, would he listen to me?

I don't care how precise their weapons are, they have nothing to do in Iraq. You will never be able to change views of those who hate Islam, and trust me, it's not worth it. They won't be content with you until you embrace their religion.

It's not just about Muslims in name speaking against terrorism; you see people with no knowledge, jahils, sisters who don't cover up properly, people who don't pray, people of all deviations talking against terrorism. You should understand that most of young Muslims won't listen to that. The scholars who might have been listened are all in jails of apostate regimes around the Middle East.

I agree with you. I am Christian and am sick and tired of people on this forum telling Muslims to do something about the terrorists as if every Muslim alive knows where they are. Yet the same people who say this don't like what those in our government are doing and they as citizens don't do anything about it. I would suggest that before anyone tells another person to do something that perhaps they might try doing something first. Then maybe they will understand how asinine such statements are.
