No!!
I think is a myth,
I am from Bolivia and the miners there drink regular alcohol mixed with seven up or sprite and lime or lemon.
what they do is burn the alcohol for a few minutes, that takes most of the bad part and makes it drinkable! a smooth flames gets over the pitch and then they just place a plate over the flame to stop it
It is a bit dangerous if you don't know what you are doing , but it w0rks!

No. Do not waste your time & money.
For a chemical to be converted it must meet certain criteria. A few of these are heat, pressure, chemical orientation, a catalyst, and or another chemical to react with.
The only thing that bread provides is protein, carbohydrates, and water. None of these provide the chemical conversion mechanisms that are require to reduce the 2 carbon alcohol (isopropanol) to the consumable 2 carbon alcohol ethanol.
Nope. Never. Cannot happen, read my lips.

I think that that may hurt you. But I once knew a guy that would put a piece of bread in a bottle of OJ and leave it in his truck for a week. The fruit ferment along with the yeast blah blah. I never tried it, but he got messed up on it all the time. Probably worth a shot?

I asked my OBGYN if it was safe to go into a hot tub while pregnant, he said that it would be fine in small spurts and that the temp of the water was like 102 or103 at the most, and not to over do it. At 103 the water is not hot enough to turn my skin red, but any higher it would. If it turns your skin red then it may be a bad idea to bath in that hot of water while pregnant. You could talk to your Dr and get the facts from him as well, but you will not boil your baby.

It wouldn't logically work.
Bread is like a sponge, so think of a sponge, full of holes and absorbent.
So some of your alcohol would go right through, thus making it toxic right away, and some gets absorbed into the bread.
I guess the idea is that the yeast in the bread somehow will change the alcohol, but you're not fermenting anything with yeast, the alcohol is already made, and there's no reverse fermentation process, no filtration process. Plus the yeast in the bread I believe is killed through cooking. It should do nothing more than disinfect your bread.

not. it may ferment the yeast in the bread, but does not make rubbing alcohol anything but.

I remember hearing that about turpentine but could never imagine why anyone would even think to try it it just sounds dangerous especially when you can get booze cheaper than bread.

It does not work...it's just urban legend.
Drinking alcohol is ethyl alcohol, or ethanol (C2H5OH)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethanol
Rubbing alcohol is isopropyl alcohol, or isopropanol. (C3H7OH)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isopropanol
They are chemically different and pouring it over bread does not cause any sort of chemical reaction that makes one into the other.

NO, not true. Rubbing alcohol, if consumed, can kill you, whether it's soaked in bread or not.
