DuckPhup: I agree (for the most part) with the second part of your answer, but not the first.

Ham Shank: Hindus have temples or other types of meeting houses. The Establishment Clause forbids a national "religion." Separation of Church and State is merely a convenient (and not too precise) shorthand for the constitutional doctrine.

Our founding fathers believed they has started a new secular order. Jefferson founded the University of Virginia so there would finally be a university without any religious component.

But, if they are going to pray, at least they are getting a wide variety of opinions, spreading the around the plea for help and who knows, maybe the Hindu's are right and we will finally be saved from W.

And at least the protesters were able to show that Christian Americans are bright, broad minded and full of charity and respect for their fellow citizens of other religions.

The nerve! the only religion allowed in the senate should be Christianity. After all we were founded as a christian nation. Blasphemy that another religions prayer was used!

It's fun answering like a christian.

I think we were born, Christian. 1 nation under God. With separation of Church and State. I don't think the State should tell us where or when to pray. HINDUS don't have churches do they? I know Islam doesn't. So Church, means Christian. And we, means. United States of America.

What was the reaction? I cant imagine it being tolerant. Please give some more details or a link. This sounds like fun.

Wow!!! Thanks for the links. What animals those people are. Their next life will most likely be lived as pigs (in one form or another). The christian right (as opposite to left) are nothing like how I interpreted the new testament.
Hari Bol.

the christians merely prayed out loud....and were arrested.

there were only TWO senators present for the hindu opening prayer. at this point i could give a rat's a$$. this country is ripe for a revolution and it will be divided into atheists/socialist/communists and believers/conservatives and libertarians.

let's just get it over with already.

I think the protesters should be horse-whipped... and I also think that they should not be saying prayers in governmental functions.

Yep, this is exactly why secular society is necessary.

Do you suppose that is why they are having troubles, because they let minister(s) of Satan pray for the Senate. Christian Clergy are to pray for the Senate not ambassadors for Satan and his demons.

AND I AIN'T GOING TO TAKE THAT BACK

Now

IF,

this is not true, then I apologize and take that back

THAT IS IF THAT IS NOT TRUE WHAT WAS STATED.
