All the above answers are correct. The airport designation is SNA and the airport is called John Wayne. There is a great statue of him in the center of the drive-bye. The end of the Runway is actually right up against the Back bay of Newport. This is a good airport to use instead of LAX but can sometimes be a little pricey. Taxi to the Peninsula can still be a few bucks. Newport proper is a little over 5 miles from the airport. Traffic can be horrible.

SNA (John Wayne) Santa Ana is extremely close.
Another good alternative (a great alternative) is Long Beach Airport (LGA)...its extremely small, no waiting, no lines and is the HUB for Jetblue!
