People in this section say things like "there is so much tragedy" or "so many poor and starving people"

My response is compared to what? At what point in history have humans lived better than they do today? When in history have we had as much as we do? Was there any point in history where humans were better off? Everything is relative.

The difference is that thanks to TV and the Internet, the average person is now FAR more aware of what's happening halfway across the world.

People have been starving to death (and dying of disease) for centuries, but now we are bombarded by it (usually in the form of Christian Children's Fund commercials - or the news) on a daily basis ;););)

So many people focus on the negative. It's easy...because there are so many negative things in this world to see.
I agree...there are some awful things out there, and always will be.
If we challenge ourselves to see the positives and the beauty in this world, a lot of us will be happier.

I don't think they mean the material things. Of course we have a lot more of those...health care is better etc....what they are talking about is the state of the world's morals..Sin is rampant everywhere you look..Things that would have been considered sin is now looked on as the cool thing to do. Look who young girls look up to...Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan and Brittany....there are few hero's for the boys to looks to either...the baseball players all cheat..well nearly all anyway....

Sin is now an accepted thing. If it feels good, do it. If you ask most kids, they don't even know one of the ten commandments and they think being Gay is an alternate lifestyle....

That is what we mean, when we say it is an awful world now...Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

The world is just fine. The people are awful.

Suffering is suffering. Everybody suffers, even the rabidly rich.
