I saw the sign at a local RCC. Bingo and you can have wine or beer for refreshments. I am not aware of any Protestant denomination that would allow such activities in a Church. I am not against games or drinking if done in moderation, but what do you think Jesus would do? Would He buy 30 cards, grab a beer and get out a couple of plastic saints for good luck? Maybe He would go in and flip a few tables over and start telling the Truth....right in a RCC. Might be the first time that anyone heard the Truth spoken with true authority. I repeat myself, but look up the House of Borgia on wekipedia. Something for every freak with that family. Other than producing several popes, they set all time records in perversions of every nature. Where is the unbroken Apostolic connection to Peter?

Sorry, Siar, there is a mandatory "donation" for the beer and wine.
Yummy, don't you know that the older folks are easy prey.
Bella, I am sure your true Christian spirit will be led to the scripture to help your relative realize that God does not want any "seers" in His house.

As a kid, our Catholic Church had picnics in a private park not far from my town. There were games for the kids, bingo, 5 and 10 cent slot machines on the picnic table, and beer.

At the time, our Church had a Monsignor, looked like Barry Fitzgerald on the Bing Crosby movie " Going My Way".The Monsignor was Irish and liked his Irish whiskey. Most of the items in his garbage cans were empty whiskey bottles. He could drop a large boy by grabbing his ear lobe and taking him down.

The nuns were just as bad but most of them were bigger than the Monsignor.

Didn't ruin me for life although amazingly, slot machines were illegal at that time. Special dispensation I guess. I'm not being judgmental, just telling how it was once upon a time.

Now b4 other posters judge me, remember we are Christian and don't judge others, ok good. I am Catholic and remain Catholic bc I feel we have a closer version of the Bible to what was originally written. Several edits were made to the Bible during the reformation. I have nothing against Protestants as I believe all Christians should stick together as one. But the fact remains that my church has stayed together while Protestant churches have continued to splinter over various issues throughout the ages. This to me calls into question how loyal to the original word of God they are if they are willing to change ie accept ministers who are openly gay and in a gay union. That to me is wrong. That is why I'm Catholic. I'm not judging anyone as a person, I think Protestants for the most part are great people, but their churches have flaws I can't overlook. I don't feel any basis of judgement like those posted above about Catholics hold any validity bc they came from a Bible (KJV) that has been edited throughout the years, so I just write those critiques off trusting they came from man, not God.

Me relatives on me Mom's side were all Italian and Catholic as the Pope. Booze was a part of their general activities.

Wine and beer >>> no problem.

I do not see a problem in moderation, however do yer drugs at home and keep them out of PUBLIC CHURCH ACTIVITIES.

WOW how do I convert.. does that include girls too?sign me up. man!!! but not today tomorrow or ever..I will humble myself before the LORD..that I may gain HIS favor.. I will sacrifice all this world has to offer, for a chance to work as a janitor in Heaven. I will live for JESUS, because that is what matters, and when other houses falter mine will stand, because it is built upon THE ROCK OF AGES.. so for those of you who want to live for JESUS instead of an indulgence, join me in knowing HIS TRUTH.. and meet me in Heaven, we will sing songs together. Meet me by the SAVIOUR'S side.

I have noticed that as well. My mother is Catholic and went on a church bus trip with other parishoners to the casino. And at her senior church luncheons they serve them wine with lunch. I told her the same thing that you wouldn't see these things in a prodestant church.

When we were Catholic, we baptized our firstborn very young when he was a few months old, and had a big party. The presiding priest joined the festivities and apparently, he liked to drink ***** Modelo. Back then, we didn't think anything of it.

I'm not quite sure if RLDS falls under Protestant or not, but they had Psychic Sylvia Brown come to their Big Convention Church here in the KC area.
Talk about WWJD?

We don't have to THINK what Jesus would do: we KNOW what Jesus would do. He did it. His first miracle. The guests at the wedding had been going some and had drunk all the wine. Did He "flip a few tables"? No: he some more wine so everybody could carry on having a good time.

Hmm. Interesting Jesus you have there. Maybe he'd stride into the church, turn water into wine, like he did at the first miracle he ever performed and then sit and talk to the goth kids hanging out in the corner.

Be careful. Your judgmental attitude is showing.
