My rat never used to bite me. She would kind of nibble my fingers very very lightly but just as a loving thing because she would lick me after. But now whenever I put her on my shoulder (she doesn't mind this) she starts to nip at my chin and cheeks, never breaking skin but still, it hurts. She did this a week ago but then stopped and now she is at it again. What is wrong?

It sounds like something could have scared him. while rats get very scared they are going to each and every each and every now and then chew, nevertheless this is no longer very situation-loose. attempt merely leaving him on my own for a whilst, and if he tries it lower back later, there could be yet another situation. each and every each and every now and then while rats get harm they are able to chew, so it is beneficial to look him over to make particular he does not have any injuries. additionally, i do no longer comprehend in case you comprehend this, yet rats ought to never be saved on my own, they're very social animals. they are able to get depressed, unwell, and that they are able to even advance biting or different behavioral issues while they at the instant are not with different rats. whether the biting stops, you rather ought to get your rat a same gender chum. he would be lots happier and stay longer that way.

Dont put the rat on your shoulder.. that increases the chances of the rat biting. Put a chew thingy in the cage because rodents need to trim their teeth often and he might just be wanting to use you as the chew toy...Good luck! :)
