Probably not. Someone with a health issue like that can quickly have a status change. I would prefer to know that there are several people helping to take care of my son, instead of one who could possibly be unreliable. I would feel the same way about any major disease like that. It doesn't have anything to do with the disease itself, but the other aspects of a person's life that are changed.

First of all, Your sister in law will never hurt your children.
The thing is, a lot of people are fearful of aids. If someone had aids, most people would be afraid to share a cake with them...and thats sad....
You cant catch aids through touching, through kissing, sharing a drink, holding hands...etc etc.
You can only catch it by : given birth by a parent with aids, unprotected sex ( penetraion, oral and anal), drug use with needles or by blood transfusion.
If my sister in law had aids, Yes, I would let her babysit. Because I would love her like my own sister, respect her and I would want my kids to know her before she passes and teach my children that people with aids are not disgusting.

What are you 12? You don't know how Aids is spread? Try learning something for once in your life. Aids is spread through exchange of body fluids, generally sexual body fluids or blood.
You cannot get it from regular daily contact.
So, yes I would let her babysit, I'd even sleep in the same bed with her, and swim in the same pool. It's not that big of a deal.
If your mother in law had a cold would you let her babysit? Because that's spread through the air.
And by the way your kids are more of a threat to her than she is to you. Their common colds and runny noses can kill her once her T-cells get low enough. No one ever dies of AIDS, it's always a cold or pneumonia that gets them.

Definitely. Would you let someone who had cancer babysit your kids? I look at it the same way. As long is she and you are aware of percautions to take if there is an open wound - which is the only possible way of transmitting AIDS to your child. She should not feel offended either if you ask her what she would do just in case - she should feel important and loved you even asked her.

It would depend greatly on her personal habits and hygiene, but because of the vast amount of information available on the AIDS and HIV virus, I would let her babysit as long as I knew her to not be an intentional danger to my children or a crummy human being.

Sure i would let her babysit, YOU need to be More Eduacted about AIDS. Your kids can't get aids if your sister, Coughs on your kids or hugs them. Aids isn't AIRBORNE. I am more worried about Hepitites B then I am AIDS.

Of course, my best friend has aids and he watches our daughter. You need to read up on the facts of the transmition of HIV. Why is there still so much fear on how this is passed?
Uless your SIL is giving your baby a blood transfusion, or sharing a needle, or having sex with the baby you have nothing to fear.
