Hey Guys!:
Ok, so me and my girlfriends were debating the whole "virgin" issue. There's a lot of strong statements online, and on magazines about what makes a woman/girl a virgin. I recently read a magazine that was all like 'you can know if you're a virgin or not". I was surprised people even talk about this, because obviously, i grew up with the idea you're a virgin, unless you have sexual intercourse. Well, the list went on, from oral sex, to basic hand jobs. Or letting someone kiss you naked, and so on. They also made a small article about how teens and even adult women make this pledge to remain virgins till marriage, and share this ring with their fathers. I thought this was ok, but I would like to know everyone's opinion on the whole "what makes a virgin?" statement and if you think it's important down to the extremes of making these new pledges.

Technically, a virgin is someone who never had sexual intercourse i.e. penetration. In my opinion however, virginity is more figurative than literal. Therefore if someone had oral sex/ hand job etc... I wouldn't consider them virgins any longer because they have had experience in that area already. Virginity=innocence.
While I believe in being married before having sex... I don't think that doing it is a smarter decision... It's just a personal preference because I want to avoid STDs and unwanted pregnancies as well as save it for the man that I'm gonna spend the rest of my life with.

I particularly respect any one that can keep a virgin these days. However from my expertise the blokes as well as ladies i know which can be nonetheless virgins, are frequently a little off, now not very socially inept. I'm now not looking to be imply however most should not virgins by means of alternative but are virgins considering that they simply by no means had a significant ample relationship and hence dont have alot of the experience others do (my associates range from 25-20). So knowing humans like my friends i will comprehend why most folks could be amazed via it and why folks chuckle on the grounds that it's one-of-a-kind. Hope you find yourself a virgin to marry in the following couple of years and that all goes well with you. Excellent success :)

Well, I have heard many different things about losing your virginity. I agree with what you grew up with, you lose your virginity when you have sexual intercourse. I don't think that blow jobs, hand jobs, being fingered and all of that advides by that rule. It all matters about what you think. The rings, and pledges I think are a little overboard, that sounds like a father that is waayy to overprotective. But, I don't really believe in no sex until marriage. I mean, what if you come by mr.right but you can't marry because your too young but you want to share your virginity with him. That's my opnion on it, but its all about what you think.

I think its a lot of BS when some women who clearly arent virgins are the ones making those pledges, or saying that they are going to re-virginize them selves, i personally have my own morals, and have kept myself a virgin, ive had experiences with others sorts of foreplay mind you, but i told myself i would not sleep with anyone until i knew that the time felt right, and the person was important to me, so i think the whole virgin term is a fit title for those who have their own moral support behind calling themselves one, i dont need a ring or anything to share with my parents to keep to my own word, its either you do it or not, no extra work or publicity should be involved with being a virgin or not

I think the purity pledges are stupid. That is my personal opinion.
What makes a virgin? Anything with the last name of sex can take your virginity. Oral sex, vaginal sex, anal sex. Virginity is akin to innocence. After you have oral, vaginal, anal you don't feel very innocent any more.
On a personal note. Here is my story. I was 17. I was dating a man who I loved very much. When did I lose my virginity? I gave him oral sex in Nov 1994. We had anal sex in Dec 1994. We had vaginal sex in April 1995. By some of the answers on here I lost my virginity in April, because that is when my "cherry" was "popped". I say I lost my virginity in Nov. when we had oral sex.

I can see how oral sex would be considered as sex. Hand jobs, ect is just dumb. I would just call that sexually maturing and growing. Personally, I think we should do these things before we have sex. Explore our bodies and become comfortable. When a person has anal or vaginal sex, that is when I consider them to have lost their virginity. I am for girls who want to wait until marriage, however; I myself have no taken that path. I want to be able to experience things with other people in my life before I settle down. And I have only been with one guy.

That's the funny thing about the virginity thing. You can have oral with 1000 guys and still be a virgin. But, put one penis where 1000 tongues have been, and that takes it away. Forget pledges, have fun.

When you have sexual intercourse, your no longer a virgin. anal, vaginal no longer a virgin. No such thing as being 1/2 virgin. You are ether sexually active or you are not. black and white. Contrary to the popular belief a girl can lose her virginity anally because she is engaging in sexual conduct for the 1st time. Braking the hymen is another form of losing it, not the only

I think the pledges are stupid.
I think 10-15 year olds having sex and acting like wannabe adults is idiotic and they all need their buts spanked and put back in their place.
I think unless you have real sexual intercourse, you are a virgin. The rest is just foreplay.
