My dogs sleep with me and they are both female. They are potty trained, I let them in from outside in the evenings to go to bed only to find that one of them has peed IN the bed. I thought they weren't soposed to pee where they sleep???!! i don't know which one is doing it, because obviously I can't ask them, so what is going on here?

Ok-- The dogs are both a year and a half old. They are not fixed. They pee on the bed right before we actually go to sleep, like when I am int he bathroom, and I come to lie down and have quite the surprise when I find I have to wash all the linens. They are not old, they don't do it in their sleep, and it is not a little it is alot.

If the dog is old, or obese, this is common. Like people, dogs don't hold their urine as well as they did when they were younger. You can put a rubber sheet on the bed or find him another place to sleep. I use an old shower curtain liner, which is inexpensive, and just put a large towel or a folded sheet over the plastic for my dog, and she can doesn't feel that she has done anything wrong and is being punished. The plastic goes in the washing machine and dryer along with a load of cloths, so it is not a problem.. Hope you have many more happy years with your furry friend.

With out more information the problem could be either behavioural or medical. Do either of the dogs need to go out more frequently than the other? Is it alot of pee or just a few drops? Most dogs will actually release a few drops of pee over night.
I think maybe the best temporary solution is to say no more puppies in the bed until the problem is fixed.

To figure out which dog is wetting, you can crate them at night instead of letting them sleep in bed with you. Get them each their own crate.
My dog did this only 1 time, LONG after he was potty trained. I believe he had a nightmare, or else a dream that he was outside and was peeing in his dream.
Could one of your dogs be pregnant?

Whichever dog is doing this is indeed marking their territory and showing dominance over you (and lack of respect). Has there been any other behavioral changes? Other telltale dominant behavioral issues would be humping (this is a major sign of dominance), jumping on you, sitting on you and growling for ANY reason. You should not allow your dogs to sleep with you, showing that you are the dominant one. Bring their dog beds into your room and only let them sleep there. If they continue jumping on the bed to sleep, place them back into their beds. This may take a few nights to retrain but your dogs will learn that you are dominant over them. You should use this in everything you do with your dogs. Honestly, watch Cesar Milan. He really does know his stuff! Good Luck!

The most common reason is that one of them has become incontinent. The sphincter muscle weakens, and when the dog lies down pressure is put on the bladder and urine leaks out. They don't even know they are doing it. The vet can run a urinalysis to check for health problems, and if normal he/she can prescribe medications to help strengthen the sphincter tone. Meds are pretty inexpensive, but must be given weekly or daily.

There could be a couple things. They could be marking their territory, have bladder or urinary infections, be diabetic, have thyroid problems or incontinence due to age. The way to tell who is doing is to diaper them & see who's is wet in the morning. If it's a behavior thing, the diaper will put a stop to it. If it's medical, they'll not be able to control it & you will know which one needs to see the vet. I've done this with 3 dogs & 1 was behavior, & 2 were medical (age incontinence & diabetes). It worked well.

Seeing how you are not certain which dog is wetting the bed take them both to the VET and have them checked out---one of them may have a bladder infection. This way you will know(hopefully) what is going on----they can give meds for treatment if this is the case.

I have a 9 year old Rottweiler that does that. She is potty trained in all, but she just has a leaky bladder I guess. I had to buy her diapers to put on her at night. Good luck with her!

She is nervous or scared about something. So nervous or scared that she wet her own bed. Also, it's safe to see a vet because wetting can lead to serious problems (or may be a symptom) that you'll want to avoid. good luck.
