In other words god would have no idea which choice a person would make?

In god's eyes wouldn't everything be like predetermined? That kind of defeats the purpose of free will wouldn't it?

Damn good questions.

Yes, free will is outside the power of God to know.

I believe that some experiences in our life are predetermined. Like our parents. We chose them before we got here. We chose our plan, or theme. We knew what we wanted to experience and learn. We made this plan on the other side with God, or Mother God (I completely freaked you out with that one), but it is up to us to live our life accordingly. There comes free will again. Both our free will and that of others influences everything in our lives.

Other than the non-Christian theologies and the atheist responses, all I've seen to this point is tap-dancing. YOU ARE CORRECT in your logic, in my opinion. Free will means that God CANNOT know what we will choose. Otherwise it can't be called free will, especially if He exists outside of time. Jumping ahead and knowing means He must go back and create in spite of that knowledge. Therefore God MUST be the author of evil, causing Man to stumble in order for His purpose to be fulfilled. Not going forward in time STILL would mean a game of love, love, love, right up until death, then it's no longer love, it's wrath. Or infinite sadness, which means a schizophrenic God that supposedly created Hell in the first place for the unbeliever.

I'm not saying I'm not Christian. I am. But your question is entirely logical, and following through the logical answer, you're going to get either an admission of error, or tap-dancing. Or unbelief as far as mainstream Christianity goes.

Sometimes I picture God and Satan sitting at a table placing bets on how we are going to behave. I think that God knows when we will arrive and when we will depart. I think he gave us certain qualities and has certain hopes for us. I think he knows our hearts. I think that how we get from point a to point b is by choice. Free will. It is kind of like God and the Devil gambling or playing Red Rover. It is the journey. It is the choices we make. It is where we end up at the end of our journey....

Even if he didn't, he would know the outcome of either choice and all of the future choice options and the outcomes for all of them infinity. Come on. What happens when you give a crack head a twenty? What happens when a 10 year old breaks his arm at school? What happens when you show up for work late, drunk, neckid', and knockin' people out?? Humans aren't that complicated dude.

It's called Omniscience, and it doesn't surprise me that you don't understand it.

This would only be true if God was within the constraints of time. Since He is outside of time ( No future present or past )
What wouls seem to you as a decision in your future is and has already occured for Him.

No.

Add.
It does not defeat the purpose of freewill at all. The purpose of free will is to determine if YOU will decide to follow God or not. It is not to reveal your nature to God, who already knows it, it is to reveal it to yourself and to allow just judgements to come upon men. After all, if you never had a chance to decide on who you wanted to be or what you wanted to do, you certainly would not be responsible for anything you did. If God never allowed you to decide, you would never learn anything and YOU certainly would not have free will.

That's right. He only knows what is happening and what has happened. He does know the final outcome of man-kind, but that is only because he knows the heart of man will never change.
He does not know a man's choice before he makes it. That is free will.

He know the end from the beginning. He knows what you will pray before you pray?(why pray?) the benefit of prayer is to build a relationship and a faith based on trust, faith not visual, not by sight. If yobelong to god he will run a lot of interference to keep you in line.he will discipline sometimes out of love.He also puts presure on us to build perseverence character, patience.I can figure Him,i just trust him

Free will is a privilege given to us by God, he still knows what our choices will be.

I think "Can god know anything?" is more along the lines of a question that bumps against reality.

And the answer to that would be "No." Since to know requires thought.

Thought requires existence.

You know the rest. ;-)
