What you are talking about is coaxil cables. They come in many different lengths. You can get one long enough that will run from your neighbor's house all the way to your house, so that is not an issue. The longer the cable, the more it costs of course. If you already own a handful or shorter cables, you can buy extenders, so when one cable ends, you put on the extender and then add the next cable, until you reach your destination. It's ugly to run a cable through the house though. I had a similar situation, but here is how I solved it.
I carpet-snaked it. This means I got a knife, cut a hole in my carpet, attached an unraveled coat hanger to the end, shoved it though the hole, cut another hole where it ended, pulled it out, untaped the coat hanger, pulled it through, reattached it and repeated until my cabled reached the destination under the carpet. You could also just pull up the carpet, lay your cable, then relay the carpet.
The best and easiest soultion if you have money is to have either your cable company or run the cable line to the room you want, but that costs money.
I'll paste a link to the cable extender below.

RG6 or RG59 cable. They can be found premade in lengths up to 100 feet. You should be able to find it at any store that sells TV sets. I know KMART, Wal Mart Radio Shack and Home Depot sells it. You will also need a "joiner" that will allow you to connect the two cables together.

You can also add length to your cable with a "barrel connector" which allows you to connect two cables together. They are available at Radio Shack and other electronic supply stores.

You can find those anywhere from Walmart to Radio Shack to Fry's or any places like that. I had one that was probably 15 feet long--it stretched to another room.
