October in New York has the best weather- the most comfortable. You usually can wear a very light jacket; the heat's not on in the stores yet, so you don't break into a sweat whenever you go indoors. Walking in October is usually very pleasant - sunny, and not humid. If you're lucky, you'll be here when the foliage changes. Central Park looks spectacular! You've picked the perfect month for a vacation here. Enjoy it.

I was married in NYC in late October a few years ago. Days can be nice going into the upper 60's...Nights in the 50's. NYC doesn't really start getting cold until about mid-December.

Interesting can be Indian Summer and hot and can be cold and frost Halloween season so you can be cold and rain or great weather.
A gamble............... Beautiful leaves on the trees and short days.
Ex NJ resident and you can enjoy.

Crisp and comfortable. In Central Park, the leaves are changing their colors. Some years it's cooler than others, overall, however, the temperature is in the mid 70s.
