Active meaning that god would be everywhere, and have a hand in all things shaping it as he pleases. There is free will for god's creations but then people would be "punished" if they choose the wrong path.

Passive meaning that god would create the ingredients of life and let it develop by due course and flourish like a plant given water, soil, and sunlight.

The truth is, god is the ultimate in passive. Things that don't exist can't be very active now can they?

I prefer the second god, the one described by deists. Sure he does not help with our problems or intervene in our daily life, but at least he doesn't torture the vast majority of people forever.

I would like one that started off Active and as evolution occured, He steps back just a little ... but never so far that "Falls" cannot be fixed.
