i dont judge them. i dont agree at all with there book and i have read it. i love how it starts out saying that the book of mormon is the fullness of the gospel just like the Bible is. so i was under the impression they are saying if you have either the Bible or book of mormon you have the fullness. then i read later in the book of mormon that without the book of mormon you dont have the fullness of the gospel. wait a min. did that just contradict intself. hmm. anyways though. i dont believe it to be true. the Bible says we will beable to see false doctrines and teachers. well if it starts out contradicting i can surelly see that. and the Bible says if any man or doctrine teaches you anything else then what the Bible teaches us and what the apostles taught then it is false.
and to say they are wacked because of that i would not say. back then na might not have been here yet either. was not there to say. i believe mormons are a false belief but for other reasons. this would be a minor reason. but that is also there belief i disagree with. some of the people dont follow the belief fully. like going to the temple or baptizing for the dead. many dont agree with that stuff either but go because first they get money. mormons have a lot of money and help you when you need too. we have a lady in our church now who was mormon and they kept trying to pay her money to go back. they would try to pay her rent, car, and other bills. they finally stopped offering. so they have money. and some just go because they have been there and the people are nice. anyways though using other books and saying they are just as equal if not more equal then the Bible for me is false and wrong.

You'll need to do a little more research on 'eurocentric diffusion', or the concept that all civilized behavior originated from Europe. Karl Marx originated that idea, and others.
There was a concept after the discovery of the Americas, and after the confirmation the Indians weren't actually 'Indian' (India), but many diverse and semi-nomadic non-technological tribes that populated two continents. How did they get here? Only Europeans and ancient Romans, Greeks and Phoenicians knew boat-building. Obviously, they reasoned, they were part of the Lost Tribes of Israel, who lapsed into savagery.
Joseph Smith's account is nothing more than a retelling of old Yankee folklore, tales and many newspaper accounts that speculated that the Indian burial mounds (the Mississippi culture) were the result of a tremendous battle between civilized fort-builders and what appeared to be simple, but populous remaining savages. That, plus "A View of the Hebrews"(Ethan Smith) and "Manuscript Found" (Solomon Spaulding) and their spurious link to Smith, plus his own imagination produced the Book of Mormon.
There's a lot more, but as you can see, it's not as simple "It's true because we say it's true" mormonology. Try "Losing a Lost Tribe" by Simon Southerton, "Having Visions" by Susan Wolverton and "Rough Stone Rolling" by Richard Bushman and come to your own conclusion.
Have fun. This is a rich topic.

The Book of Mormon is supposed to be the account of people who came from the Middle-East to the Americas. It covers the period of about 600 B.C. to 400 A.D. It tells of the Jaredites, people from the Tower of Babel who came to central America but perished because of their own immorality. It also describes some Jews who fled persecution in Jerusalem and came to America led by a man called Nephi. The Jews divided into two groups known as the Nephites and Lamanites who fought each other. The Nephites were defeated in 428 A.D. The Lamanites continued and are known as the American Indians. The Book of Mormon is the account of the Nephite leader, Mormon, concerning their culture, civilization, and appearance of Jesus to the Americas.

Apparently, the Native Americans didn't have a Constantine to sponsor Christianity here.
They also believe that John the Revalator never died and has been in hiding for the last 2000 years.
That takes a stretch of the imagination and just a little crazyness, just like the other religious beliefs out there.

Well the idea comes from an ancient record.
But if you recall the Spaniards, and Cortez were heralded as the "great white god" returning.
Quetzalcoatl
Ku'Kul'Can or Kinich Ahau
There is a lot of myths that show a god in Ancient America
Where did we get the idea -- http://www.mormon.org/mormonorg/eng/basic-beliefs/the-restoration-of-truth/the-book-of-mormon

We are not crazy or wacko. We state that He visited the people here. We never said specifically that it was "America."
The Indians in Mexico, Central America and South America didn't call him Jesus. However, there are many references to a "great white God." This God is depicted on their temples and other buildings.

Actually the Native Americans did have legends about a white God that was supposed to come back one day. Why wouldn't it make sense that Jesus would go and visit other countries and other people. He was teaching people, so why only go to one group.

He came and spoke to the Nephites, a remnant of the house of Israel. The Nephites were later wiped out, so the story goes.

Actually they do have legends of the white spirit. And in the bible it says that Jesus went to go with his other sheep for 40 days....
Who are the other sheep in his "flock"? The Native Americans.
