The Earth is billions of years old and in all that time not one piece of evidence has come to light to show the existence of a god.
That's close enough to proof for me.

The First God praised by man was the Sun when he was searching for answers, none of us would praise the Sun now. I beleive in a God however i don't beleive that he had anything to do with the bible nor do i see where he is directly communicating with any of us.

I used to be a very strict church go-er however i realised that my actions were just rituals and as i read history i found out that Christianity has its roots in paganism.

As Christians we are taught to believe that there are no other gods in existance, i.e There is God and Satan so all other religions have false or imaginary Gods. If that is true then how come my religion copy's from other fake ones?
read about "mithra" and you will realise that there is absolutly no difference between Mithra and Jesus, when i saw that i realised that there was plagerism in the religion which didn't make scence and Mithra's story is older so i knew that Christianity coppied and if Mithra isn't real therefore Jesus' story is also false.
Many church practices are pagan eg. holy water, eating bread and water or wine as a ritual, the hymns eg. "he's got the whole world, in his hands" (which i recently found out is the Titan Atlas) Greek Myth, the concept of Hell or Hades, the flood story and the most of the ten comandments was also stolen from babylon as they already existed there. Egytian practices were stolen through Moses.

Finaly the last straw for me was Abraham's father's God name was Sin and it was hated by Abrahams God. Thats why abraham left Ur. according to historical study Sin was actually the moon and Abraham's God was the Sun.

I came into my inability to believe that deities real while studying some descriptions of near-death experiences. It was interesting, that such descriptions from people who were not brought up in Western Culture were completely different than the descriptions from people who were.... on the surface. The project was an exercise in rhetoric and in studying the words people used and finding meaning in their experiences, it seemed that most people experienced very, very similar things, only in the context of their dominant religion or culture.

I came to the conclusion that deities and all the other supernatural entities are not actually real, but are metaphors for something our human minds can't comprehend - an attempt to define the undefinable.

While I was Christian and while I was of a sorta-Christian mindset I did always believe that all religions worshipped the same deity. At this point I began to see what was being worshipped as even more abstract than that. It became clear to me that deities were potent symbols and archetypes and metaphors... but I no longer believed they were actual beings.

Now I'm a Taoist.

1.) A complete and utter lack of empirical evidence to support the claim that any god exists, let alone the specific Christian god.
2.) An enormous amount of empirical evidence that contradicts the claims of religion.
3.) The whole idea of God is nonsensical. For example: Why would an all-knowing god bother to create a universe when he already knows everything that's going to happen within it?

I understand agnosticism perfectly, but I don't really get atheism, myself.

I mean, doubts...sure. If you doubt something, if you don't want to make a decision without proof, fine.

But having no proof of something and saying it doesn't exist...uh, well, OK. You can believe or not...it's logical either way.

But I don't get it. I've certainly been pissed off at God...but I've never said that I hate God so much that there is no God.

I've never been able to wish somebody out of existence through hate. You could kill somebody...but it still wouldn't make the person blink out of existence.

So agnosticism seems like the best choice in the face of a lack of proof.

But whatever, just because I know there's some kind of divine force doesn't mean I believe.

I KNOW.

There's a difference.--Gabriel, from the movie Constantine.

I am not a Christian. The lack of authentication, the lack of divine action doesn’t make sense, and all the arguments and “evidence” for Christianity can be explained away as coincidence, rhetoric, psychology, or the simple desire to believe in a nice story that simply isn’t true. I can’t help but think that if Christianity were true, it would mean that billions of people will end up in eternal hell not out of rejection of God, but out of a God’s failure to authenticate Christianity as the true religion.

(Note: I realize that Mormons believe that Jesus Christ did go to the Americas to preach the gospel after his resurrection. Of course, there is nothing to substantiate this claim, and the Book of Mormon makes plenty of strange claims that have not held up to scrutiny.)

I would mention that this is the tip of the iceberg. Also: a clear understanding of scripture and a wide knowledge bas ein the sciences doesn't hurt either. Perhaps it is not becuase I may know _more_, but also becuase I've been conditioned to think differently. i do not replace logic with faith, and faith is at the heart of religious belief.

Bring some proof of God and lots of people will believe. Since you don't have proof - and no, the Bible isn't proof, then you will have to be satisfied knowing that not everyone can dismiss reason to believe in fairy tales. Pretty simple to understand, if you apply yourself.

What makes you think theres a God if nobody has never seen a God?

Absolutely no proof what so ever. Zero, zip, Nada. Everything contributed to god is natural and can be explained. Everything Jesus did was done before. Nothing done in gods name has a better chance then anything done in nothings name.

The same thing that makes you think there is no Zeus, Odin, Krishna, Tooth Fairy, leprechauns, etc. Atheists simply believe in one less god than Christians do.
