Angels do have free will. Every thing God created has free will. God does not want puppets.

Did you know that the word lucifer does not refer to the devil?
But Angels do have free will that is why satan as well as 1/3 of the angels in heaven joined satan in rebellion. After they made themselves human bodies to come down to earth and marry the women God decided to destroy all those opposed to him with the great flood. He had Noe warn for 40 years and out of all the people only 8 people listenened and lived. When this happened the angles left thier human bodies and returned back to heaven. Satan and his angels were still permitted to enter until a war in the heavens exploded and Jesus and his army kicked Satan and his now demons down to earth till thier time came to be destoryed.

So they were given free will just like adam and eve. The angels are not inmortal. They can be destroyed.

Lucifer's problem was that he let his ego get ahead of himself because he wanted everything "His" way. It depends on what Angels you're talking about. I think some angels have more free will than others. Archangels might, because they interact directly with humans.

As for the Apocrypha, yes it does exist. It is a volume of documents that were not included in the Bible.

The bible does not say whether angels have free will or not. However, since some of them rebelled against God, they must be able to exercise free will. A consequence of this view, however is that there would a continuing threat of rebellion unless God nullified their free will after Lucifer's rebellion.

Who told you Angels had no free will? They do. Lucifer is a fallen angel who had enough free will to try and over-throw God.
Every creature sm and lg and human have free will.

Blessed Be

They weren't GIVEN free will.

They took it.

Big difference.

I mean, anything could decide to have free will. Like with the laws regarding robots--that's to protect against robots deciding to do whatever they want.

Oh, it's Isaac Asimov. I'm not being literal.

Or am I?

Anyway, that's why they were punished and sent to Earth rather than living in heaven singing, "holy, holy, holy" all day (sounds boring as hell, but, then, does that mean Hell's boring, too?)

Humans were provided with free will so technically, they shouldn't be punished for using it.

Though many religions would like to see that.

I believe that angel can rebel and have just watched the tv series of spawn cause it is really weird and talks about angels killing people to fight for heaven. Maybe you should go read the comic book.

Did you know the name "Lucifer" isn't found at all in the Hebrew Scriptures? That section of the Bible is (yet another) mistranslation. The idea of "rebellion" of angels is another difference between Judaism and Christianity.

A question to your question could be: since we know that G-d is (a) unchanging and (b) not human, why do Christians try to make out as if G-d came to earth in human form?

In other words... who knows? The Christian scriptures have all kinds of influences: the Hebrew Scriptures, Greek paganism, etc.

For all those asking about angels and free will:
Jews believe that angels have no free will. How do we know this? Because angels are sinless. Why are they sinless? because they have no free will.

When God created the angels they did have free will. But once the angelic mind was made up it was made up forever.

Boy, looking at these Q/A I'd be afraid to go to heaven with all the fighting and rebellion going on.
