they don't KNOW exactly. What's known is that raisins or grapes can cause kidney failure, and that it doesn't take a lot of them to do that. So far, though, scientists haven't isolated the "part" of grapes that causes the problem, they just know it happens. Partly because they don't understand WHY it happens it's very tough to treat. They can treat generally for kidney failure, but in most cases they haven't been able to reverse it.

Now there is always going to be someone who'll say "but i give my dogs grapes all the time", or "i use raisins for training treats"...and more power to them. The fact is noone knows how many grapes or raisins are enough to poison a dog, and apparently some dogs can have more than others. Personally i dpn't want to risk finding out how many are too many for mine, so i avoid them completely.

The prep when coming dwelling from the market with bags of meat takes a whilst. I need to divide up the materials so i'm not defrosting too much or too little meat without delay. However i only need to try this perhaps twice a month, so it can be now not so bad. The actual feeding, no time in any respect depending on what i am feeding. I am feeding 6 puppies, and four cats. So, for essentially the most section, i just take the thawed meat out of the fridge, and the dogs run into their crates, i toss meat in crate, finished. For the two smaller dogs, and the cats, i need to take the meat cleaver to the meat, however that doesn't take longer than 5 minutes. Once or twice a week, i do ground pork/rabbit or turkey, and can combine in some cottage cheese or yogurt or eggs, and a few salmon oil. This takes about 5 minutes too, i do it all in one mixing bowl, and then refill man or woman dishes.

raisins are made from grapes.. grapes are also toxic to dogs. They cause kidney failure. One grape can be enough to kill a small dog.

Because they're dried grapes, and grapes are bad in large amounts and/or over long periods of time - they can cause kidney failure.
