A few days ago, Pope Benedict issued a proclimation stating that the Catholic Church was the only true path to salvation.

Is there anything in the Bible that supports this, or goes agianst this?

Truthully, I'm lookin for the stuff AGAINST.

Thanks in advance.

Here is the full text of the new document that states nothing new: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20070629_responsa-quaestiones_en.html

Most Christian denominations believe that each of them is the fullest version of the Church of Christ.

While the Catholic Church also believes that she is "the highest exemplar" of the mystery that is the Church of Christ, she does not claim that non-Catholic Churches are not truly Christian. The Catholic Church teaches:

Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements.

Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church.

All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him.

With love in Christ.

The Catholic Church is a lying one. It was formed in 305/6 A.D. when 29 out of 30 men decided to create a new religion where they did NOT obey ALL Jesus said.
In the Book of Acts it talks of the first Christians. They met in the Synagogues, in the evenings. And at homes. In Matthew 5 Jesus states that we are not to forget any of the Commandments. There are 306. The Catholic church only follows nine of them. They removed the second Commandment that state that God is a very Jealous God and no one is to pray to any one but him, ever. And split the tenth commandment into two. Catholics pray to anyone they want, even dead parents.
Most Protestant churches are only aware of ten Commandments. Some even less.
You have to study all of the Bible yourself. Get the whole truth. And don't use the King James Bible, for King James did not want his people to read the Bible. Since he could not stop the Bibles from being smuggled in; he ordered his with 400 words changed. Like unicorn, monsters, and dragons are in the KJB; but not in any other Bible.

The only true path to heaven is through Jesus, no pope or catholic or church' or anyone else can get you into heaven. Jesus said "Call no man father upon the earth, for one is your father which is in heaven." Matthew 23.9
If you read in Daniel, it talks about the rise of the catholic church and about where they try to change the laws of God, mainly the Sabbath, which is on the seventh day of the week, they changed it to the first day of the week.
The roman catholic church has records on where they had it changed.
There are alot of people out there that doesn't know that the days of the week is named after the ancient roman gods, also, the months of the year are named after the ancient roman gods.

No, the pope did NOT issue a proclamation that the Catholic Church is the only true path to salvation. You are letting the news commentaries tell you what the document says instead of reading the actual document for yourself. The document can be found at http://tinyurl.com/27hn45

Here is a real quote from teh document:

It is possible, according to Catholic doctrine, to affirm correctly that the Church of Christ is present and operative in the churches and ecclesial Communities not yet fully in communion with the Catholic Church, on account of the elements of sanctification and truth that are present in them.[

It follows that these separated churches and Communities, though we believe they suffer from defects, are deprived neither of significance nor importance in the mystery of salvation. In fact the Spirit of Christ has not refrained from using them as instruments of salvation,

Sorry, I can't help you. I tried to find the same thing and couldn't. Eventually, the only intellectually honest choice I could make was to convert to Catholicism.

There is no getting around the Biblical facts that Jesus gave Peter the keys, the power to bind and loose, entrusted him with the care of His flock, and that the Apostles had successors (Matthew 16:19; John 21:15-17; Acts 1:15-26).

If B16 is not the current successor of Peter, who is, and of what Church is he the earthly head?

EDIT: Thanks, Pres.!

No. He's wrong and I hate the fact that he feels the need to reel in the Catholic flock. Read the Bible and you will find that the Church is headed by Christ and that Peter expressed faith that Jesus was the son of God the savior and was awarded eternal life... not the right to rule over all Christians through the papacy.

Being part of the Catholic Church has NOTHING to do with how one's salvation is gained. Salvation comes from accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God."
~Ephesians 2:8 (New International Version)~

In the book of Revelation, there were seven different churches that john wrote to.

The apostle Paul was in communication with at least five different churches that he was helping grow.

The other apostles all were also charged with starting and nurturing young churches of Jesus Christ.

We can see from many different epistles in the new testament that there were many churches and they were not empowered to anyone other than Jesus Christ.

In the book of Acts, you can find specific writing from Peter in which he tells other men not to worship him, nor follow him, but to follow Jesus Christ. Peter makes sure that the people know that he is a man, just as they are, and follows the same Lord that they do, together, with no one in power above another.
Much as Jesus Christ showed peter and the other apostles during the washing of the feet. Jesus humbled himself and washed the others feet, showing that he did not find himself to be above them while in his human flesh.

The bible is full of reasons that man is never put in charge of Gods people when it comes to following God and living as we are told.
