Rimadyl doesn't do that as far as I know, although plain ol' dog urine can kill the grass as the urine is like dumping a really strong fertilizer in one spot. It just burns the grass. Check out this website for some ideas on how to help.

If your dog is on rimadyl, then you probably don't want to be taking him off anytime soon! That stuff worked really well for our dog until the end of her days. It made her feel so much better!

Good question, one I should probably know the answer to I feel!

Possibly Rimadyl does affect the acidity of urine, it's metabolised by the kidneys so it would make sense. However, urine is acidic anyway so lots of peeing on grass mostly will cause it to die.

Don't feed your dog ketchup! What nonsense is this? Don't you know not to give an animal anything suggested by the oddballs on here.

ummmm....if i told you that ketchup or tomatoes in any form affect the urine and would make him kill MORE grass would that help? GO to the lawn and garden store...or to the department in a major store like home depot and get a product that neutralizes urine. That'll save your grass. Not giving the dog bizarre things to eat will save him.

Urine will scold your grass anyway, rimadyl isn't the cause. Maybe encourage him to urinate is different places. Or alternatively get a pee post then put it somewhere that isn't visible.
