There is no such thing. You got bad information. I doubt seriously that you were speaking to any cancer patient.
There is NO cure for cancer. Don't you think if there was, that it would be HUGE, WORLDWIDE news? Everyone would be talking about it and celebrating! It would be the biggest discovery in history. You sure wouldn't be coming onto Yahoo Answers trying to find out what it is.
Come on. THINK.

There really is no such thing. One needs balanced nutrition that includes all the building blocks for tissue repair while undergoing therapy for cancer, and of course that includes vitamins. But no single vitamin, in large doses, is going to improve a patient's healing processes. And yes, mega-doses of vitamins can be very hazardous. Vitamins A and D, in large enough doses, can kill you. There was a famous arctic explorer several score years ago who died with his entire crew when their ship became trapped in arctic ice. Several of the bodies were eventually recovered, and modern autopsy showed toxic levels of both vitamins in their tissues. That was the Franklin expedition - you might be able to read about in in Wikepedia - the poor guys were poisoned by eating the livers of their dogs trying to survive - dog liver is extraordinarily rich in vitamins A and D. They were also affected by the lead used to solder the cans of food they had taken with them and which heavy metal is known to leach into foods that are acidic.
Even mega-doses of vitamin C can cause problems. I'd suggest you forgo the "humble" vitamin supplement. You wanna live, don't you?
BTW - bmac is dead wrong: we do have cures for some cancers, just not all cancers. He has not been entirely truthful about his source...

There is no cure for cancer using just vitamins. People who take vitamins still get cancer.
And, unfortunately there does appear to be some cause for alarm about taking too many vitamin supplements. People for some reason have it in their heads that if one vitamin is good for you maybe taking 50 might be even better. Go figure. Anyway, there has been some recent studies to suggest that all that supplement and vitamin taking might not only be bad for you . . but really bad . . as in shorten your life.

Vitamin C. You can take as much as you want, though you will want to cut back on the dose when it starts causing diarrhea.
Taking large doses of vitamins usually isn't bad for one's health. You can overdose on minerals, though.
Note that Vitamin C isn't necessarily a cure for all cancer, but it does fight cancerous cells.

Sounds like a placebo effect. I mean, vitamins are good...but they're not that good.
Any anti-oxidant vitamins (A, C, E, beta-carotene, lycopene, anthocyanins, red-wine extract, etc.) would probably help.
As to a cure...don't discount the power of positive thinking.
But that doesn't come in a supplement, alas.

One vitamin?? That sounds doubtful.
The closest thing to that would be vitamin B-17. Vitamin C is also helpful.
But I wouldn't try to rely one one vitamin. That's like emptying the ocean with a teaspoon.

I believe that would be "bullsh*t". Who are these "cancer patients themselves"?
There is no such beast.
And yes indeed, taking large doses of "common vitamins" is bad for you, people DIE from doing that every year.
Read a (respectable) book...get a clue!
