I told my mom I'd make deviled eggs for the BBQ on Saturday. Any ideas on how to spruce 'em up a bit so its not just a typical, run-of-the-mill deviled egg? Thanks!

I know how to make deviled eggs. Please don't just tell me to add mayo and sprinkle with paprika. Read my question and actually answer it, please. To those that have, thank you, to baby4...you're a moron.

I have been making them like this for thirty years and never have any leftovers. It's really too simple.

Just remove the yolks from the egg whites and mix with mayo, salt, pepper, and real bacon bits. You can fry your own bacon or use Hormel or Oscar Meyer real bacon pieces or bits. Spoon mixture back into the whites.

I usually stop here, but if I am going to "spruce" them up, I have sprinkled them with chopped parsley or just a trace of paprika. I have even placed them on a plate with tomato roses. I've included a link for how to make them.

You deserve a good answer!!

Piquant Deviled Eggs
1 dozen eggs-hard boiled and peeled
2 t. dry mustard
2-3 T. pickle juice
2 T. drained picalili or hot dog relish
Black olive slices (cut across the olive) and chopped pimento
S and P to taste

Cut eggs in half and put yolks in a bowl. Add dry mustard and picalili (or relish) and s and p. Mash all together. Gradually add just enough of the pickle juice to make the mixture soften. You don't want it to be at all runny. Gently spoon the mixture into each egg half--top with a sliced black olive and tuck a piece of pimento into the center of the olive slice. Or you can make some of them with sliced, stuffed green olives. Chill well before serving.

I have been making deviled eggs for a long time and they are always requested.
I recently made 120 for a 50 anniversary party, everyone loved them. Its so simple.
cooled boiled eggs,peeled,cut in half.
Take the yolks, add mayo(judge this by how many your making) salt, pepper,
some mustard and sugar.Mix together and fill egg half, chill thoroughly. You may sprinkle paprika on them but I do not all the time. Enjoy!

Good question, earned you a star, and I've been waiting for a deviled egg question since I've been on YA!!! My secret is to add CURRY powder (about a tablespoon to the mayo and then mix.....) you will find out that the curry compliments the egg flavor very well.....when I bring my deviled eggs to a party (I usually buy the eggs about 2 weeks ahead of time, that way they peel easier, a chef's trick) they're always the first appetizer to go......that's why I make 5 dozen.......yeah, sounds like a lot, but 120 halves go quickly!!! But try it first in just a bit of plain egg mixture, add just a little curry powder and let it sit for about 10 minutes to meld together, and try it and see how you like it........ oh, and another trick, for lump free piping of the egg yolk mixture back into the white, press all your egg yolks through a fine seive and you'll be a happy camper.......truse me on this one.........Enjoy!!

Instead of your usual mayo, try only half the normal amount of mayo, and make up the other half with sour cream, then add caviar and chopped chives. For each dozen eggs, use about 3 tablespoons caviar and 1/4 cup chives. A little lemon zest on top looks extra nice, and the flavor goes well with the caviar.

I like to add some very finely chopped jalepeno's. The ones from the jar that have been pickled are really good in them. Just make sure that they are drained very well. If I don't make them that way, then I will add a green olive on top of them instead. It adds a great flavor. I have had them with bacon bits in them and they were actually very good.

spruce em up with tiny bits of crumbled bacon

I know this may sound awful, but I know a lady that puts a little bit of peanut butter in her mixture. I was at a potluck and everybody raved about them.
Maybe you can experiment with that on 1 or 2 eggs and see what you think. If everyone likes them, they would be shocked at your ingredient and your mom just might be impressed with your effort, lol .....they were wonderful.
