To believe as another believes is difficult as I truly only believe that even believing I exist is possibly a false illlusion.

You cannot disbelieve in your own beliefs or they wouldnt be your own beliefs. You can only learn the truth, or be led to believe something is the truth. I respect that other people have their own beliefs, but I know I would never believe what they believe, and that I will probably never stop believing what I believe as far as God is concerned, because I am an atheist, and I dont plan on ever seeing proof of god.

i think it's harder to believe in another's belief then it is to disbelieve in your own. How many people turn away from their religion or god when things go bad in their life? Quite a few... it's easier to turn your back on something that has let you down, then to let in something you know nothing about.

Thats an easy one. Its harder to believe in another's belief.

Most people who are part of an organised religion secretly do not really believe it, they just try really hard to.

To fully realise that you do not believe is a much harder thing though, especially if you have been taught that you will burn in hell for eternity.

That is one of the better questions I have seen here. In my opinion it is harder to believe others because you have such a vested interest in your own beliefs. What if all I knew was wrong and so on. It is so much easier to dismiss others than turn the light on yourself.

I changed my belief system, and it was a very difficult process. It took brutal honesty, and the ability to let go of beliefs held dear through childhood.

Believing in someone else's system is much easier, than disregarding your own, unless you have to give up on your own belief first.

If I believe something, which is not the same as most believers' belief, then that really means I have enough evidence to consider it worthy, so it'd be hard to ignore that...OTOH, there is no one in the world I trust enough (sorry, mom & dad) to accept something simply on their say-so - so I'd say believe in another's belief.

I'm thinking believe in anothers belief, because I think if people were really honest with themselves they'd admit they have doubts in their own beliefs at least sometimes. Even Jesus did.

Beliefs. Feh. You're better off with a Theory.
