For those you think I'm making up words: Religiosity: another term that would work equally well, though is less often used, is 'religiousness'. In its narrowest sense, religiosity deals more with how religious a person is, and less with how a person is religious (in terms of practicing certain rituals, retelling certain myths, revering certain symbols, or accepting certain doctrines about deities and afterlife).
Studies have shown that there exists an inverse relationship: that individuals with lower IQ's (spelling and grammatical errors; selective hearing; slow to grasp new concepts; illogical reasonings; ditzy; etc. etc.) tend to be much more religious.

I think there is definitely an inverse relationship between INTELLECTUALISM and religiosity, but not so much between intelligence and religiosity. Intellectuals have always trusted their brain over all else. But many highly intelligent people still choose to trust their heart on certain matters, such as faith. I have an IQ of 135 and a post-graduate degree, but intellectuals bug the heck out of me. Oh, and I'm a Christian.

first of all, the meaning for perception and faith does no longer have something to do with being happy with no longer understanding. easily interior the context of the bible, someone is to recognize lots approximately what they suspect and why they suspect it. they are commanded to locate all issues. they are commanded to no longer be slack in understanding. As for the wiki article, first it says that the Jews have been bigger than the atheists. 2d, it is basically an extremely reasonable difference between the countless communities. hardly inverse. the version replaced into reasonable adequate that if a margin of errors replaced into risk-free, (which i did no longer see in my short skim of the article) i could wager that this could account for lots. additionally, a number of those tests are so truthfully fallacious that i does no longer positioned lots weight on its findings. I even have been an atheist for 28 years and a Christian for 2.5 years. and that i've got considered from my own adventure that the intelligence of individuals is definitely the comparable.

I know some extremely brilliant people who are quite religious (some are members of the clergy) but, in general, I do see the inverse correlation.
This site alone should bear witness to that.

predominately the less educated the more religious - but not always of course. Some people are educated but still brainwashed. It takes a strong mind and a desire for factual truth to cure the religious virus.

My experience is the same negative correlation. I'm really not suprised that the study found that information, but pleasantly amused. When you think about it, it is really funny that mankind, which evolved from the same single-celled organism as everything else, was dumb enough to create something as ridiculous as religion.

A) You have too much time on your hands, and B) you have no clue about what relegion is.
As for the second paragraph, I would love to see that study because it seems to me you could be talking equally about Republicans, or Democrats, or aithests, or just about any group you can imagine. And that renders your "theory" invalid.
Case closed.

false and overly broad generalization. i'd say the MTV generation is much less intelligent than any generation before it. and i know most of them are not religious and are IR-religious. and wikipedia is a joke. anything sited from there is by a pathetic scholar who believes in propaganda.
