I have a Belgium Malinois who is an escape artist. I have had her for 6 years. She just now started to get out. So i put concrete blocks around the holes. Well she just moved them out of the way. Then i dug a whole and put chicken wire down. Well she chewed threw that and got out. Then i did what i never wanted to do. I chained her up. And still she is getting out of that. She keeps on going to another yard where their are like 3 other dogs. I have to check on her every 10 min just to make sure she is still their.

Just because humans retired her doesn't mean she herself was ready to give up working. She needs a job. she's bored and that's why she escapes to be around the other dogs. How about talking to your unit's PR Officer to see if you two could be good-will representatives of the force - and visit nursing homes, schools, 4H clubs, etc. That would give her a "job" and a "purpose"

Otherwise, she'll need a concrete pad and roofed pen to keep her in during the day.

OR you could run an electric fence around the perimeter of the yard - too close to jump over and too low to dig under. A couple 3 strands should do it. It'll take quite a big "zap" or two to convince her she needs to leave the fence alone tho - and watch it if there are other people (especially children) around.

u should always dog proof ur garden! u may need to put up metal fencing if he keeps moving things out of the way it may also be good to take him to a training class to prevent this bad behaviour also try crate training when u dog attempts or does escape put him in the crate so that he learns if he keeps trying to escape he will be put into a place where he cannot so he will appreciate his freedom you obviously have an unruley dog.

the age is important as if he is an old dog he may never get out of this behaviour

never leave them out unattended this also seems like a sign of boredom get ur dog more toys and play with them with ur dog teach her or him good things to do to distract her attention

when she digs out put her dog poop in the hole i know it sounds gross but we did it with our dog and she never dug agian. with the other problems maybe she just wants to have some fun burn off her energy or something like that. and if that doesn't work put in one of those underground fences which gives them just a little tiny shock telling them that that is not a good place to go but i think even that is a little over the top.

if u have a fence what we did with our dog is put cement in the holes they already dug then put railroad ties all the way around the perimiter sometimes they would go under them so we either but giant concrete blocks in it or cement or just put more railroad ties in it and if you dont think that will work trie a high powered shock collar

SOunds like the only thing left to do is to put her in a crate and train her not to leave the yard. =/

Get a large kennel like this. http://www.seefido.com/html/dog_kennel.htm
The one on the top picture has stronger metal that chicken wire.
