As has been stated, the Remington will cost you more and for that you will get better fit and finish on the rifle in most instances. The Savage will normally be a bit less expensive and will not appear quite as polished. However I'd be more concerned with how well each rifle fits you. Both will have excellent accuracy potential in most instances.
Savage has a long standing reputation for good accuracy on a budget and Remington has long been considered one of the best out of the box rifles around.

Find the one that fits you best in terms of length of pull, reach to the trigger, height of the comb and balance. Most gun shops will have at least one person who can help you see the differences in them. Most department stores don't.

Id have to agree that both are worth whatever you choose to pay for them. In my personal opinion I use a model 700 remington 30-06, bolt action and couldn't be happier. The only problem with a savage is that they feel cheaper made to me when i hold them in my hands. Find a savage 30-06 bolt and flip the safety off then do the same to a remington, and you will feel the difference in craftsmenship. In my opinion its better to buy the best once, but im sure whatever you decide will give you many years of good use..happy hunting.

Both are excellent quality, and they are both tied in that respect*... Either one will last a lifetime, however if the user doesn't maintain it , and abuses it, then it doesn't matter whether its a Savage or Remington*... Its not the Rifles, or the manufacturer, its the individual user of it that matters most*....I have owned both and could not find one better than the other*...It really comes down to personal preference, and Brand loyalty*...

Remington will cost more but the quality is better and they last a long time. Look in to one of the model 700s. My dad and I use the 700 adl .270. Mine is a few years old but his is from 1971. It still work like new and is very accurate.

Well, I have a Savage model 111 30-06 that I hunt deer with, and love it. My dad bought it for me used, in near perfect condition, for $390. Remington rifle are really good rifles though, and never pass one up. You will pay more for Remington. Both perform flawlessly.

A remington will have a smooth action, But a save has a better barrel and with the new ac trigger it has a crisp trigger pull. Both are good rifle. You'll have to see which one fits you better

Remington. Higher quality. But w/ higher quality, comes a higher price tag. It is worth the extra. I know this. I own one of each. I prefer my Remington
