I admit there is just something about it that is more satisfying than other drinks. I have seen a good number of people however totally addicted to it drinking several liters a day, people from all walks of life needing to have one can every hour! And it is not just any soda they drink a lot of it is always DIET COKE. What is the deal?

I think it is a combination of the caff, the fact that you can drink it endlessly, and the real trick: sodium. Each can contains 2% of your recommended daily sodium intake. This may just have the effect of boosting your thirst (particularly as the caff is busy pushing water out of your system)
Of course, I say this as a mostly reformed diet coke addict myself. Now where's my water dangit.

Diet Coke actually taste good for a diet soda. Other diet sodas seem to leave/have a funny taste.
I can see people drinking it up without the worries of the calories from regular sugared sodas.
Also, the caffiene boost helps when one starts dragging as the day wears on.

Diet Coke contains caffeine which is quite addictive. Couple that with its lack of calories and you have the reason so many people drink it. Plus it is only one of very few diet drinks that tastes decent.

well it is a big secret. When you are not lookin a magical coke troll comes and slips some magic into your drink. So that you will buy more. Keep it on the down low

I'm kind of afraid of artificial sweetners, I always am thinking ten years from now we'll all be saying, "remember back in the early 21st century when we drank that stuff and now we find out how it kills people?" Asbestos seemed the thing to do everywhere 80 years ago, too, dosen't mean it's right.

I'm not sure but Coca-Cola is the same way since they're the same hahaha i use to be an impulsive drinker it has too much caffeine
