Mormans come to my house too. Yeah good question you would think that witnesses wouldn't be looking anymore because don't they think that only 144,000 will be saved? so you would think they have reached that number by now, lol.

cutiepie other religions do just not as well known for it as Jehovah's Witnesses (World Wide). Every Country , Every State, Every City (or close by) even remote areas.
(Jesus said you could tell the true religion by its fruit that it bears. Matt 7:16-20. & not only are they producing many fruit, but fine quality fruit . fruitage of the spirit you will see that a lot are working on these qualities but for the most part have them LOVE, JOY, PEACE LONG SUFFERING, KINDNESS , GOODNESS, FAITH, MILDNESS, SELF CONTROL. Gal. 5:22,23.

Sure other religions have tried it. there was a report on a church that tried to send its members out to minister like the Witnesses do . because they realized that they should be doing it to.
heres 3 reasons why they stopped.
1) they got frustrated explaining "No we are Not Jehovah's Witnesses
2) they came into contact with some witnesses & began to study.
3) they ran out of steam or power the Holy Spirit is the Witnesses helper which KEEPS them going...
JOHN 15:5 is the reason others cant go from house to house as efficient & prosperous as the witnesses........

'jevhovah witnesses'???

I'm pretty sure it's "Jehovah's Witnesses"...

They (we) do it in imitation of Jesus, who traveled extensively in order to spread the good news of the coming Kingdom. It is not so much an attempt to gain converts as it is an effort to effectively spread a warning (that of the coming destruction of the present system of things) as well as inform others what God's requirements of His servants are as outlined in the Bible.

Of course LDS/Mormons do a little bit of this too, so we're not technically the only ones who do it.

inkythecutie: How old are you, 9 1/2 (still counting half years @ that age I'm sure)? Is WACK religion the best answer you could come up with?

Why do Jehovah’s Witnesses preach from house to house?

Jesus foretold for our day this work: “This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.” He also instructed his followers: “Go . . . and make disciples of people of all the nations.”—Matthew 24:14; 28:19.
When Jesus sent out his early disciples, he directed them to go to the homes of the people. (Matthew 10:7, 11-13.) The apostle Paul said regarding his ministry: “I did not hold back from telling you any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching you publicly and from house to house.”—Acts 20:20, 21; see also Acts 5:42.

The message that the Witnesses proclaim involves the lives of people; they want to be careful to miss no one. (Zephaniah 2:2, 3.) Their calls are motivated by love—first for God, also for their neighbor.

But why do the Witnesses call repeatedly even at homes of people who do not share their faith?

They do not force their message on others. But they know that people move to new residences and that the circumstances of people change. Today a person may be too busy to listen; another time he may gladly take the time. One member of a household may not be interested, but others may be. People themselves change; serious problems in life may stimulate an awareness of spiritual need.—See also Isaiah 6:8, 11, 12.

Actually, several other religions do this, including (as mentioned) Mormons. Perhaps there are no other door-to-door evangelist sects in your area.

Of course, the reason is that they believe that they must spread the gospel as instructed by the so-called "great commission". They believe that they have the only true teaching (technically, they believe that they are *closer* to the truth than anyone else). Therefore, it is their duty to offer this truth of salvation to everyone. How do they make certain that they are reaching as many as possible, missing as few as possible? They actually try to contact a person at every single residence. It is *very well-organized* evangelism.

Most evangelical sects do not go door-to-door; instead, they tend to approach people in public places, or only people with whom they already have an acquaintance.

Other "non-evangelical" sects, most prominently the RCC, evangelize by setting up "missions", which offer religion along with food and medical aid. By this means they attract prospective members to come to them. Many sects use this "attraction" system to evangelize in lesser ways (vacation bible school, alternatives to boy scouts and girl scouts, etc.).

So, they're *all* evangelizing. The JWs are just taking pains to make certain that they give everyone a shot. If you tell them you do not want them coming to your house ever again, they record this and *should* leave you alone for quite awhile.

Why? Because Jesus did. His apostles did. The early Christians did. Why change a formula that works?

We are not a works-based religion. We believe salvation is by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ only.

But that same Lord gave his followers a work to do, to 'preach the Gospel in all the world.'

Once they were saved, the apostles did not just sit back and enjoy their personal salvation. What is the book about them called? It's "ACTS of the Apostles." It's about their deeds, their works, which proved their faith in the Lord.

Works do not save, only the blood of Jesus does that. Yet, "faith without works is dead."

Because the Bible tells us to do it.

Matthew 28:19, 20. " Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. "

Matthew 24:14. " And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole inhabited earth as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come."

And because we want people to learn about God and what he is going to do for us in the future.

About 2 years ago Mormons started doing it and some Baptists do now also. The Mormons only let men go out and it's only for a 2 year period. (This according to one of my sisters that is a Mormon.)

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, we go door to door as that's how Jesus, our reining King, did it. He didn't build a temple and say, "Here I am, come to me." He went where the people were. Many scriptures talk of him being in homes and preaching. We follow him very closely.

we are not recruiting people as you keep saying. Jesus Christ commanded us at Matthew 28 verse 19 and 20. he did the same thing. yes he preached in a crowd of people but he told the 12 to go into the city and preach door to door. it is not a ticket to get us into heaven. the bible tells us that only 144,000 are anointed and go to heaven and the rest will live on the earth forever what Adam and Eve lost. I think you are rude to say we are doing things with someone's mother or father or who ever. that is slander and not called for. we do not punch a time clock to see how many people we can recruit. learn what Jehovah Witnesses are about. we are not weird. we are mothers, fathers, and children just like you. we can be your next door neighbor and work on jobs like you. we are not a cult. a cult worships man, we worship Jehovah and we live in 236 lands. see our website at www.watchtower.org and see what we are all about

After the Passover of 30 C.E., Jesus spent about 8 mths., preaching in Judea. But after the Jews tried to kill him there on the Passover of 31 C.E., he spent the next yr., & a half teaching almost exclusively in Galilee. During that time, he developed a large, well-trained organization of preachers, something he did not have earlier. So he now launches a final intensive witnessing campaign in Judea.
Jesus gets this campaign under way by choosing 70 disciples & sending them out by twos. Thus, there are altogether 35 teams of Kingdom preachers to work the territory. These go in advance into every city and place to which Jesus, evidently accompanied by his apostles, is planning to go.

Instead of directing the 70 to go to synagogues,
Jesus tells them to enter into private homes,

explaining: "Wherever you enter into a house say 1st, 'May this house have peace.' And if a friend of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him." What is to be their message? "Go telling them," Jesus says, "the kingdom of God has come near to you."

Regarding the activity of the 70, ~Matthew Henry's Commentary~ reports: "Like their Master, wherever they visited, they preached from house to house"

Searching for the Lost: Jesus is eager to seek and find those who will humbly serve God. So he searches out and talks to everyone about the Kingdom, including notorious sinners. Such persons now draw near to listen to him.
Jesus treats everyone w/ kindness, dignity and compassion.
Jesus goes on to say: "Thus I tell you, joy arises among the angels of God over 1 sinner that repents."

We are under command of our master.
