I've been told that the best way to disable the door ajar alarm is to unplug the alarm maker under the dash for a for 2007 E-350.

I need a little help in locating it,as I am unfamiliar with it's location or appearance. All I know is that godawful thing is annoying and I want it dead. I wasn't able to find any schematics in the E-series owner's manual specifically pertaining to it.

Any help?

You have been lied to, the chime functions on the 2007 Econoline are integrated into the instrument cluster. Since around 97 Ford has been placing the chime functions in different modules on different cars. Since it isn't feasible to unhook the instrument cluster what you can try is to remove the steering column covers, remove the ignition switch, remove and tape up the key in cylinder contact switch. This works on the pickups and Excursions so I assume it will work on an E350. The chime will still work with the headlights, seat belts, ect but at least it won't drive you nuts if you leave the door open.

I have a 91 Cherokee Limited, so I'm not sure if this will apply, but in the fuse panel by your pedals there was a box about 2 inches long and 3/4 inch thick on the top left of all the fuses. I pulled that noisy a$$ thing out and now I have peace and quiet and everything still works, so good luck, worst case something wont work and put it back in.

The owners manual isnt going to give that specific of information for a schematic. but if you go to your local dealer and ask for a few minutes to view the schematics, they probably will let you.

Another idea is that because of the freedom of information act, you should be able to find the information on line for a price through the manufacturer's website or with a little more work using your search engine of choice. like yahoo.

first look in your vehicle handbook for the fuse box location under the dash, could be anywhere. next, find in your vehicle handbook the list of fuses and see if you could just yank out a fuse for the ding-er. some vehicles have the fuse chart inside the fuse box door/lid. if that is not an option, look under the steering wheel column, either right or left, for a black box up inside that has either hash cuts or holes for the speaker inside it. the plug will be a pain to remove, so take your time in a comfortable climate, and using needle nose pliers remove the plug/clip from the speaker unit.

Another way would be to take off the door panel and disconnect the door ajar switch.
