And happily forgetting theirs ?

To be fair, another person - even if they have their own faults - might be able to see things that I can't. It's like having a mirror.

So I guess it would depend on how much I trusted the person giving the lecture to be honest and objective.

If they were utter plonkers, I might be forced to use sarcasm on them - which can be lethal.

For some reason, I don't ever get any lectures about my faults. Maybe it's just my demeanor, because I don't give a crap what you think about me.

Now, if you think I've done you wrong in some way, I'd like to hear that so I can make it right or prove you wrong. If you think my belief system is wrong, I'll listen to your arguments against it.

I believe there is a huge difference between having an intelligent debate and just bashing someone else.

Lectures ,on a persons faults serve no good purpose except that the person giving them vents his or her spleen. It is not a constructive thing. And yes, generally the ones that complain the loudest and longest generally have a lot more faults beside berating you.

I can't read other people's minds to know if they are forgetting theirs. But I deliberately go to have someone lecture me about my faults every week. It's called the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I assume you're not married. Practically speaking, most people, when they are irritated, are in that state because of the behavior and eccentricities of others - not their own. Wouldn't you find it strange if a friend of yours walked up to you and angrily stated, "You know .. I'm fed up with the way I leave my clothes all over the room! If I don't stop, I'm going to kick my butt!"

What's with the random apostrophes in the word "you"?

As to your question, i don't like it. What other answer could there possibly be? Do you think some people enjoy having their faults pointed out by hypocrites?

Fail.

The same way most people do, when they are being critacized...lol.

However, the 'source' of the criticism makes all the difference. If it's from someone I respect/admire; than I take it as constructive criticism...

If however, it's from someone whom I do not trust, or someone I consider morally deprived, or someone who I just find 'snotty' (bad attitude) than: I get offended.

...than i remember "i have to turn the other cheek!" (so I do - usually.) Hey, nobody's perfect!!!

Depends on too many factors to give one answer, like who is it, do I have time to listen, is it really a fault, is it something I'm already trying to improve on, etc. If it's something that I really should change and it's done constructively, I'm generally receptive.

I agree. Ya know there's an old saying that says he who lives in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. I believe before you go "judging" others you should judge yourself because, the Bible states : judge not lest ye be judged with the same judgement. People need to clean off their own back porch before cleaning someone elses.

I think of this verse and a few choice(*$@&!^) words.

James 4:11,12
Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?
