ok i see so many young people on here , and i see alot of older people on here , so here is my question , i never took classes in school for typing and i know i didnt pay much attention in english classes , and i rarely read these back to myself to see what i spell right or wrong , but one thing i do believe i do is make sence in the choice of words i use to express myself , so with so many people on here why do i see so many people using words in sentences that make them look like they have a kindergarden education , do people really talk like this , i mean come on read the questions and see the lack of intelligence in the wording , ok i know i will catch hell over this question , but to be honest it drives me nuts to see some of these , well never mind enough said !

My guess is that many folks don't proof read and there are people that are currently residing outside of the USA or non native speakers who post.
This is a WORLD wide web Sir.
p.s. Did you not look over your own question as sarcasm to illustrate your point or are you part of the problem?

I think for a lot of people it is simple laziness. It is easier to just type it out and push the button to send it out without checking it over first. But then again I am or can be a bit obsessive about stuff like that. I was studying to be a High School English Teacher when I met my Hubby years ago. I don't think people realize the impression that they give when they do what they do. I am a lot less likely to answer a question that has a lot of the problems you described. I just don't see the point. I am not saying that I am perfect in my spelling, grammar and sentence structure but at least I try.

I completely agree. There is really no excuse for the atrocious spelling crimes committed on Yahoo Answers, especially since they have a spell checker built right in. Please people start using it (even in your question you have some spelling mistakes, but I can still understand you so its okay). Oftentimes, questions are unclear simply because of spelling errors. Don't even get me started on the quality of language itself. People seem to think we are mind readers. I frequently see words completely omitted. I don't know if its because they are rushed, or they simply forgot to type a word. In either case, it can make the question ambiguous and absolutely unanswerable. I think everyone, even skilled writers, would benefit from taking that extra minute to re-read what they wrote before they post it. It is at this step where I often find that what I've wrote will make no sense to others. Remember that you are not writing for yourself. Yahoo Answers is read globally by people who may not be native English speakers, so you must be considerate to not use obscure references, slang and other regional words.
Tips:
- use the "Check Spelling" feature,
- re-read what you wrote,
- keep your intended audience in mind!

You're not wrong in the least. In most cases the people probably dont have much more of an education spanning further than kindergarten. The reason probably lies somewhere in the fact that our children are so coddled that they can no longer take constructive criticism or a teacher telling them that they spelled something incorrectly. That or it turns into a lawsuit for calling the kid stupid.

I believe that the answer to your question is that the kids today are lazy and don't feel like they have the time to spell words out completely. I believe this is from the fact that they are used to reading and typing into their cell phones and doing that text message stuff. I also think it might be because they like to speak Ebonics. Just my opinion. But I do agree with you. The scary part is they are who will be taking care of us in 25 years.

it "sense" .
"sence" is not a word.
and i havent seen so many commas in one sentence since "monty pythons, the meaning of life ". (at the end, the typed message).
now, what was you question ?
sorry, im kidding. couldnt resist that one.
i too ,have seen spelling so bad i had to ask them to translate into english.
and i am a very bad speller, im lucky i can spell my own name. but, at least i run it through spell check, and look it up if i stump spell check.
lackofpunctuationisannoyingtoo
as are sentences like this " i done to dat ur tingbbrrftttgyu . ohh eee ah ah ah, ting tang walla walla bing bang."
no i dont know what it means.
we dont need to speak like english teachers, but i do wish people would use at least high school level english.

I think when people are on here, they're just typing quickly, and not paying a lot of attention to the grammar or the spelling.
But that's OK. This is really a place for conversation, not for grammatical correctness.
If it bothers you, this may not be the right place for you.

A lot of people on here are from non english speaking countries, some don't realize that they have a full keyboard in front of them, instead of a telephone keypad and write in text message language, and yet others think they are cool writing in ebonics and butcher the english language

First of all, you used the wrong spelling of the word "sense"....(you said sence)....hmmm.....right bright huh?
People use different wording on here because sometimes its easier to abbreviate and we are not being tested on proper ENGLISH

Wow. That is the longest sentence I've ever seen. People use those abbreviations because it's convenient, although terrible annoying. Yes, some people do talk like that.
